Thermal Overload bug?

Ok, i was in a warzone, following an enemy and shooting him down, so hard that my weapons where overloaded.. anyway, enemy is down but my weapons stay on 'Thermal Overload'.

I even left the warzone, left the game, changed my gimballed to fixed beams but that even wont help (doesnt make sense also.. ).

Ok.. now i can't go back to the warzone, can't shoot anymore... I did filed a ticket, but last time i did it tooks weeks they responded..

Nobody else hit this bug?. I tried again today and i still cannot use my weapons.. Thermal Overload... and it wont go away :/

I haven't had it. unfortunately a ticket is probably your only hope (except maybe buying new weapons?) and that could take quite literally months. There's a chance 1.2 might address the issue.

If it were me, I'd try buying new weapons and as a last resort maybe a new ship.

Just to rule it out: did you assign pips to WPN?
If not, you might be out of cooling energy and assigning pips should solve the issue.

You may have damaged weapons (check modules screen) somehow the weapons assignments may have cleared or even could just be turned off too. Maybe, can't hurt to check.

I had something similar happen to me couple of days back. My weapons stopped responding after an hour of fighting in a high intensity conflict zone. No damage and not a power issue.
Made around 250k and my repair bill -thanks to losing my ability to fight, was around 400k.

Logging out and back in again, solved the weapons issue for me.

Since i started to play this game, i have now lost around 50 million credits because of bugs. Wouldn't feel so bad, but the amount of time invested to get that kind of a money, ugh...

I tried changing weapons, didnt help. Also changed powerplant (wanted to have a better class anyway). But i think the pips assign to WPN did the trick. Allthough i think its still strange that it would hold the Thermal Overload, even after a weopons change. Thanks for the tips guys.

Glad you got it fixed ;)

Of course! Every time you lose that must be caused by bugs... ;)

You are welcome.

FDs decision to talk about cooling energy/heat instead of weapon energy can be misleading from time to time. If the message would say "out of energy", it would be much clearer.
The guns need the cooling energy before firing (to prevent weapon self damage). Hence, if the capacitor is empty, even new guns are not allowed to fire. So much for a lore explanation try.

Last night I tried out my first warzone. A number of times my weapons displayed "Thermal Overload" however, I was still able to fire them. I just ignored it and continued, the display eventually clears.

What's with all the people in 100+ million credit ships who lack the fundamental skills that should have been picked up while flying the Sidewinder?

Ebay account sellers? Another money exploit?

You need pips to wpn to deal with thermal issues. If you let your weapons overheat with nothing in pips the stay that way.

It is like losing your shield with nothing in sys.

Don't have to use weapons as a trader. Don't complain there are a lot of very easy targets in expensive ships

I traded exclusively at the start and still went from Harmless to Competent without ever bounty hunting or going into a war zone just from defending my cargo from scum. Trading used to have risk.

They need to re-adjust interdictions to occur more frequently and with greater masslock factor enemies if people are getting to the big ships without picking up the basics of ship operation.

Makes sense with shield/sys though. A shield won't passively re-generate itself; a weapon will passively cool, and certainly not transfer its heat to a brand new weapon :)

I see what your saying (and perhaps it isn't obvious) but it is a thermal overload of the circuitry and (perhaps) requires at least 1 pip briefly to reset.

Either way you look at it, once you know how to fix the issue it seems less like a bug.

Heat is with the weapons system not the weapon isn't it?

I use completely different weapon types so haven't tested recently but you can't switch weapons to deal with overheating can you?

Fair point.
