These Harsh Pirate vs Trader Threads?

I don't know too much about this, nowhere near as much as people in other threads do, but I'd like to ask the lot of you to try to hold your horses for 1.2. If we get what I'd expect, traders will be able to hire Bounty Hunters (Player or NPC) for a price agreed upon by both parties (10-20% Profit, for example, would go to the escort), and the escorts would protect the traders from pirates. Also, maybe, if the trader tries to run off with the cargo to another system and abandon the Bounty Hunter without paying him, the trader gets a bounty.

Alright, I'm pretty tired, I just painted a stairwell in the freezing cold for a pretty funny reason and it took a few hours, so, uh, don't judge me too hard for this post.

No NPC wingmen. Only other players: up to 3 plus you equals 4 total.

It's a new mechanic for Open and Group. It will have no effect on Solo.

Basically what Yokai said, but if they ever DO add the ability to task NPC wingmen, hoping they adjust their AI a little. Not just talking skill, but rather aggressiveness and tactics; generally speaking, in a regular fight, the AI Vipers and Cobras I poke at seem to opt for the usual 'Pew pew, evade, evade, boost away, turn around, attack run, pew pew' stuff, which is fine for a conventional battle. But if the idea's to keep hostiles away from a trading ship, then the rule of thumb is generally 'If The Pirates Ignore The Escort, The Escort Makes Them Deeply Regret It.' As the pirates are trying to shoot your trade ship, you sidle up behind them and basically let them have it with laser-y death. Wouldn't help to have AI Cobras and Vipers evading an imaginary battle and boosting away from a foe who's ignoring them anyway, even as the ship they're supposed to be protecting is getting blasted all willy nilly. x3 I wonder if it's part of the reason it's players only.

Anyway, 1.2 should be... interesting. o.o I'll be out here in fringe-ier space, watching with great interest from my comfy space chair and offering moral support. =D
