These messages won't stop showing up.

The powerplay cycle is not imminent and there are assignments I just don't feel like doing. Is there a way to disable these messages?

I don't know why this bothers me so much, but it bothers me soooooo much. I land on a station or planet and the light effects are flickering, I think, "that's a little annoying; I wish they had fixed that by now." My comm panel beeps at me for an imminent powerplay cycle on a Friday, and I want to rage quit. Especially when it's followed by a local broadcast from some bozo groom telling the whole system he isn't sure if he can go through with the wedding... Quit robo-calling me, damn it.

Well, at least that is easily rectified and may even help in curbing you rage a bit. You just need to be quick about it - those lovechilds tend to run very, very fast once you've scatched their paint. Before the last update, Pacifiers were my favourite tool for this.

Just as long as it is not the entertainment for the evening being cancelled due to an (unspecified) technical problem.

Clearly it was a big update and the company has some unanticipated results vying for their attention. Lately when I see this POPWERPLAY IMMINENT message from my own dear leader, I take a moment of solitude to mentally assert my fealty by a.) thanking her b.) pushing the D pad right to highlight the trash can delete and c.) giving a respectful tap on the trash can button

The entertainment is almost always working in systems I visit, and I'm frequently invited to take advantage of it. That's probably because those cruise liners are in the top 1% of all the cruise liners out there, though.

I was thinking about booking one of those liners, to marry a gal I like. But gee, I just don't know if I have the nerve to go through with it! Do they have drinks on the top 1%? hangs up the CB

Wait, did FDEV ever actually track the issue tracker? I've only been playing half as long as you have, so I've never seen it. I figured it was like the buttons at crosswalks that are just there to give people something to push so they don't freak out, but that don't actually do anything anymore.
Fun Fact: Creating a ticket for a bug on the issue tracker sometimes does not work, as the issue tracker is bugged.

Over here we don’t have crosswalks just pelicans and toucans many of them aren’t at junctions and the buttons work otherwise the cars don’t get stopped. The elderly zebras of course don’t have buttons working on politeness and rules.

You need to learn to ignore weekly messages, station ads, flight control complaining about, system authority interdictions, notoriety, more spam messages about faction reputation and such.

No I don't. It is not the job of my semi-conscious mind to fix someone else's sloppy mistake. If it needs to be ignored, it shouldn't be there in the first place. Someone put these messages there on purpose. I paid them to do it. I am not satisfied with the result. Not because I'm picky, but because it's really crappy work that needs to be corrected.

I'm not satisfied either, but technically they are paying me to do stuff. Well somebody is usually. Messages from passengers are the worst, you should categorically ignore all of them, happy passenger is one that reaches the destination alive.

I went through a lot of grief trying to sneak illegal passengers onto stations because they somehow convinced me it was my problem to buy and give them television sets by the ton before I learned to just never give them anything they want and suffer no negative consequences whatsoever, which is probably how FDEV feels about consumer issues...
