They added the material % to the system map :D

And I almost shed a tear for joy. Not because materials will be easier to find, but because they finally added more "science" to the game. And extremely useful science at that!

Yup, definitely a good news.

Although, prospecting in SRV wasnt never really a problem for me, always found quite easily what i was looking for. :)

Had to read this twice to make sure it was real. Definitely a welcome and needed addition. Does this apply to rings too or was that already there?

Very cool - just a shame they didn't bother to fix the crappy formatting of the data they messed up in 2.1.

Doesn't work with all landable planets, either. I'm looking at my system map, and there are a dozen landable planets here, none of them show this info.

This is awesome, not only like Zijan said there is a bit more "science" and less "random" in the gameplay, but like the wake scanner, yet another piece of equipment gets more valid uses. Now FD just have to make the cargo scanner more useful by allowing players to bust smugglers by scanning their cargo and getting a percentage of the applied fine.

Oh thank the space gods! That desperate wandering I am doing on my way back from Beagle Point 2 (only about 200 lys from the planet) is not so bleak now!

I just wanna wait for the arrow and the big fat red cross...
In fact, I just want to teleport the mats from orbit.

It does, of course, drastically change the mentality behind whether or not you scan a system. If you're actively looking for a material you are damn' well going to be scanning all the (landable) worlds now, and these will include all the dinky (and myriad) moons around the gas giants.

There's going to be much more complete system maps in our future I would say.

Well, if they had not reduced the need for the materials, so you will do less searching for them ... But, sure, anything that encourages what might be thought of as good practices is good. I know that the engineers have been the source of many complaints from lots of people, but they did encourage me to do some new things. I had never bothered with a wake scanner before I needed some wake scan data. I even did quite a few random missions because they were offering materials (even got a Polonium from one). I guess I will be doing less of that, now.

Third planet I scanned in the system I was in, indicated Po at .25%. Drove around for about 30 mins shooting everything and all I got was lots of Vanadium before my patience ran out. Didn't even see one metallic meteorite.
Still, it beats blindly landing on a planet hoping that it might have what you need. At least you know which planets you can avoid now.
