They added the material % to the system map :D

Well, I guess that's the Rock Rats pretty much out of action now.

Also removes a reason to go and land on random planets while exploring - except to specifically mine materials.

Still; I'm not complaining (much) since I'm currently a third of the way into the Abyss and will probably need to start using Jumponium soon to progress..

i have always landed on random planets in the past, not for the purposes of mining but for their other interesting features, mountains, ravines, etc knowing whats on them just makes our lives easier now.

while exploring i have done zero mining, you don't NEED rocks for exploring, a true explorers would economy route to beagle!

so show all planets some love because you dont know whats on them until your in orbital cruise, and you don't have to go 20,000ly either to find interesting stellar bodies.

:)

The update saved me hours looking for Vanadium on a planet that didn't have any last night.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, FDev!

I'm really interested about the max % of very rare materials somebody found... concerning polonium the best i have seen is 1% from my usual sources.

Saw this last night and it immediately smiled as I thought that this could be highly useful. Thankyou FD...wasn't expecting that one and it's very nice to see ^^

But soon, with the level 5 FSD being so much easier to get, everyone will be flying around with close to a maxed out jump range. In which case they might has well have just changed the base jump range for each ship. I am currently well out 'west' beyond the rift and various other gaps. I found I only needed 1 portion of level 1 jumponium to get there, because I have a level 4 FSD upgrade on my ship. With a level 5, I would have needed precisely zero jumponium.

And I almost shed a tear for joy. Not because materials will be easier to find, but because they finally added more "science" to the game. And extremely useful science at that!

It would look more like them adding 'science' if we got the stats for all planets, not just landable ones! Spot the extra dollop of handwaviu when we suddenly get those scans working when they add more planet types we can land on. You even get the confirmation message telling you the scan has finished and the available materials are listed in the system map. Even when it is not landable, so they are not listed ...

Nice two, FD.

Indeed, they even tell you about the available materials in a system with no planets when you have scanned a star!. Good luck with the buggeh on that one.
