No one would have believed in the last years of the 32nd century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. With infinite complacency men went to and fro over this galaxy about their little affairs, serene in their assurance of their empire over matter. It is possible that the infusoria under the microscope do the same. No one gave a thought to the older worlds of space as sources of human danger, or thought of them only to dismiss the idea of life upon them as impossible or improbable. It is curious to recall some of the mental habits of those departed days. At most terrestrial men fancied there might be others out there, perhaps inferior to themselves and ready to welcome a missionary enterprise. Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.
Wouldn't it be amazing if the frontier team were able to play as the Thargoids, so everytime ( or maybe just sometimes, as there could still be ai Thargoids ) you got interdicted it was a FD guy killing you! I would totally lose it if that was the case, it would be so awesome!
It can happen I know the CCP team often run events like that where they leave Jove space in supped up spaceships to take on the players.
Except that now it's not just the Earth they're regarding with those envious eyes.....

THARGOIDS SHOW INTEREST IN ICE WORLDS
The Thargoids have requested permission to send a scientific delegation to investigate the ice world Merlin. Apparently, their researchers believe that there may be similarities between the sub-polar ecosystem of Merlin and certain local ecosystems which have evolved on their ammonia-based planets.
The temperature gradients involved in each case is different but some of the core principles are similar. Arrangements are being made to accommodate the mother ship and attendants in a variation of the local space station and human scientists from the Sirocco Institute will be in attendance to help answer whatever questions the visitors may have and to provide samples from some of the less accessible sites.
The visit is planned for the winter months when the conditions are coldest and the ice is at its most stable.
Fishing will be suspended for the duration of the visit to avoid possible offence to the Visitors.

I can't imagine any Thargoids wanting to live on a ice world if they are a true insectoid life forms. Unless their interested into terraforming them into a mostly hot desert or humid jungle world or they have special inviromental space suits. Which I seriously doubt. As it's hard to imagine something that has a exoskeleton needing to wear any type of clothing over it. Perhaps they have their own version of the Remlok face mask that works just for them and now that I think of it. Maybe they do need some enviromental suit as space is cold. They would freeze and explode in the vacuum of space.
Damn, I just hope Frontier come up with some clever device that the Thargoids might use to when exposed to naked space. Like some sort of extreme heat amplifier's machine........ among other things.
