They fixed mining in odyssey yet?

Wondering If its worth reinstalling back in May of last year they still hadn't fixed asteroids in odyssy and wondering if you still need to load horizons to do anything other than deep core or laser mining.

Was it broken?

I have been surface mining intermittently in Odyssey for mats. Seems to work fine.

:D S
So... laser mining, one of the two types I said wasn't broken.

Currently and for months the PWS no longer highlights any asteroid with surface or subsurface deposits. It still highlights deep core asteroids.

It will also highlight regular asteroids with no deposits from far away but the highlight will bug out or disappear once you get close.

Only way to get it to work is to close the game to desktop while in a belt then load back in. However it only works for the immediate area so once you have cleared the rocks close by you have to quit to desktop again.

Btw there's no difference between Horizons (4.0) and Odyssey any more, at least not if we're speaking of the "live" game.
The old Horizons (3.8) still exits as "legacy" mode but beware, the two modes do not share the same universe any more !

So anything you'll do in Horizons 3.8 (legacy) will not be seen in Odyssey / Horizons 4.0 (live) and vice versa.

Yeah, it's most painful for me, because best tritium deposits are subsurface, and PWS not mark these rocks. Laser tritium mining is not effective now (about 30 t per hour in single spot, but more than double when combined with subsurface).

And if in the bubble, mine anything valuable, sell it and buy tritium. Very effecient.

Steve
Nope, in fact near opposite side of galaxy. I know about fast way to buy trit and have a lot creds for it, but here is not a option. I have Python for mining support with one laser only, abrasion blaster and two subsurface launchers. Before Ody in 3.8 Horizons I dig full cargo (192t) below 2 hours (usually about 1,5 hr), no matter it was single or double overlap. For intense local exploration and 1-2 reposition per week it was enough. About 180 tons of trit is enough for two jumps and it was fine for me. For single laser I need about 4 hours for same amount of tritium and fun becomes boring and grindy.

Yeah, noticed that with the second post :/
With an old rusty T9 in a pristine ring I lasered just over 400 t in less than 3 hour yesterday. That is playing in Odyssey.
Considering subsurface could easily get you 162 in just over 30min 400 in three hours is still pretty slow.

Yeah, I'm nowhere near the bubble. If i was I'd probably be like the bulk of the player base that didn't even realize things broke months back.

But in Ody Pulse Wave not light subsurfaces and You must fire prospectors at all asteroids, mostly empty. And time is going.

That said @conan02 it is much faster to enter the belt close to desktop (not menu) load back in then clear the subsurface and repeat. Hopefully that will keep you from mindlessly looking at rocks with a single beam.

The Python I commented about certainly isn't kitted out for optimal mining.
It is for subsurface trit.

Two subsurface to increase ammo. One abrasion to pick off any surface deposits and a single laser will deplete most rocks before you finish all the sub surface deposits.

I'm not sure what load out would be faster.

I know this trick with relog, but it destroys all fun and immersion from game... tastes something as cheat.

Exactly this way.
