Thin metal on ships is constantly changing color.

Hi everyone,

My first time here. I’m playing Elite Dangerous Horizons on PC. Using the Type-6 right now. There is a thin piece of metal that is constantly changing colors as you fly. It’s making me sick. Is there any way to make it a solid color witho losing first person? I confirmed that this doesn’t happen on Xbox. I have captured a video of it happening here's the link

Thank you.

This looks like an anti-aliasing thingy, you could try messing with your graphics settings. Or change your ship, I had a Type-6 once, it's still where I dumped it.

Are you talking about the reflections on the lower window frame? In that case, dial down the graphics to XBox levels :p. Most people switch from console to PC, though, because of the better graphics...

He's talking abou the middle divider where the glass angles back to go above your head, and that's definitely an anti-aliasing artifact, I have a type 6 and it doesn't do that for me, although I must admit I haven't flown it much since Odyssey dropped. When I arrive at my FC in a couple of days I will get it out and have a look!

First off, I’d like to thank everyone for looking to help. I confirmed it happening with the Cobra Mk. III as well. But it’s not in the center of the screen like the Type-6.

In addition, I did try it with Antialiasing Off, it didn’t change things. I have tried every Quality level from Low to Ultra. The game is set to run at 720p but I’ve tried the native 1080p.

I also wondered if the specs were relevant. I have a Sony VAIO Flip 15A. The CPU is a Core i7-4500U with an NVIDIA GeForce 735M. With the resolution set to 720p and the quality set to LOW, I get 60 FPS.

in nvidia control panel set all the AA to application controlled or off, there are numerous AA settings ie temporal AA, AA transparency

once in game change the type of AA your using, sometimes lower quality AA can look better in some situations. you might need to experiment to find one that works best for you

Tried your suggestions. If I missed something, I'll try again. Thank you.

you have AA switched off in game, with AA off you will notice shimmer\flicker as you move. turning AA on should reduce or depending on the level of AA smooth these lines and remove the flicker. if you run with AA switched off then you willl notice all lines flickering once they move past either horizontal or vertical positioning, if you cant turn AA on youll have to live with the flicker..
higher the contrast between the line and the background the more noticeable the flicker will be, turning up the gamma\brightness in game may reduce how noticeable the flicker is however the flicker will remain

the likes of Xbox and PSx and their games are designed to run with the best AA level\types switched on hence little or no flicker

I'm afraid to say if you want to get rid of that, you need to run at native resolution and up the AA. Low resolution will cause that issue.
If your system cannot cope with the increase in resolution, you will have to cope with it.
