Things that don't make sense in Elite - Number 437

Docked at a Agricultural system with a high supply of Water, 600K+ tonnes, and the controlling faction wants to give me a job to go and mine 21 more tonnes of the stuff.

Why?

Just turn a ruddy tap on, you've got plenty....

What they have in the Agricultural Station is this :

In comparison, what they ask you to deliver is essentialy this to them :

I guess it's a psychological thing with the local Population.
Recycled and Reclaimed Water from Biological processes onboard the entire Station - vs. fresh, fine and Pristine "Asteroid Water". All with trace elements of Low Temperature Diamonds and a nasty dose of heavy Radiation :D

Ah but how do you think they got 600,000 tons of it? My guess is 25,871 poor schmucks like you looking to get rep with them. :D

Why does anyone leave their home and drive to the store, then pay $1.50 USD for 16 oz. of bottled water? They don't want ******* tap-water, they want pure, clean, freshly mined from space BOTTLED water!

Besides, you're a Trader! Why do you care about their motives so long as they pay you? You think Sothis was paying 60 million per trip just to haul doo-doo? [squeeeee] There were probably dead bodies in that biowaste! I don't care, I got paid!

So there's hope then? I've been married 8 years and it makes less sense every year. Of course I pretend it does though.

The first seven are up hill all the way.

After that, it's all down hill.

Wait, that doesn't exactly sound inspiring....

XV years and counting.

Any water in my hold will still taste slightly of biowaste, or hydrogen fuel. It takes ages and ages for that to come out. But of course, that is exactly why it's expensive -- rare and hard to get.

How do you think they got their 6000k tons? Plants need water, get to fetching it.

I've read Australia imports around 11,000 litres of bottled water, per year from the UK.

We also export 12,000 litres for sale in the UK.

Read that a few years ago but doesn't surprise me.

What you are about to see below is by far the worst possible way to waste 60 grand:

It's called "Acqua di Cristallo Tributo a Modigliani", a luxury bottle of water worth $60,000, and what's inside is no different than what's inside this:

It's just WATER! How can anyone be more stupid than that?! LOL

Some.salesmen are really good!

I've always wondered if there's something in our engine exhaust that's good for plants.. seeing as how they have lots of plants out in the open in the docking area of agricultural systems. :D

Nothing makes any sense to me. People who buy water from their local supermarket rather than take a glass to the tap in the kitchen. And then add the plastic bottle to the mountain of plastic waste. And that water is bottled in another country, put in the bottles from yet another country, transport the water to a distribution centre and then onto the supermarket...

Makes your mission sound perfectly logical...

I don't drink water from the sink because of hard-to-see hard water stains and buildup of limestone, chalk, calcium and other nasty stuff hiding under your faucet and deep inside the pipes:

Look closely under this tap to see some nasty green and white stains:

However it doesn't really matter if you're going to boil the tap water for some coffee, since boiling-hot water will kill all the stuff floating inside it. Or, if you have a Brita jug that you clean out and replace the filter regularly.
