Things that make you go hmmmmm!!

Bounty hunting. Finally back on Elite after being away for the festive season. Decide to indulge in my favourite past time of bounty hunting and quickly notice something seems wrong!

I'm pretty certain i am getting credited kills when i was nowhere near to getting the last shot in! Somebody tell me I'm imagining this please!!

Case in point. Me and two SA Anacondas at a USS taking on a wanted Viper. I land a few shots then have to take evasive manoeuvres to avoid one of the Anacondas. Next thing I know I'm credited the bounty for the Viper. Pretty certain i didn't strike the killing blow anybody else finding this?

They changed it so that if an NPC gets the killing shot then whichever PC hit it last (up to 10 seconds ago) gets the kill.
 
Seems like you'll get credited if you took part in the kill with NPC's. Perhaps not so much if other players did some shoting.
 
Thank all the "i dont know how to play the game, therefore its broken! Fix nao!!!" threads on the forum, and all the morons, who think easy is the way to go.

I mean the whinners will make the game dull, then get bored and leave. And we will be left with the product for morons...

Yep. Noticed this over the Christmas holidays. It seems to have been tweaked too far in the player's favour now. I had two kills awarded to me when I know I has ceased firing a good five seconds before BOOM and definitely I did not fire the last shot. That isn't right. Breaks the immersion too. In effect I am stealing the bounty that would have bought food for the children of these NPCs.

That sucks. Well there goes the skill factor for bounty hunting then.:mad:

You can thank the community for that.

The vocal "Police came in and STOLE my kill is RUINING game" crowd.

Nevermind a large proportion of these same players had their right HUD set to "call the police to save me whenever I get in a fight" enabled. =/

I'm not sure if I like it like it is now, but getting the last shot in is not much of a true combat skill I feel.

It doesn't feel quite right to me. Perhaps bringing the margin down to 5 seconds would feel better.
 
They changed it because of the mass volume of people claiming AI kill stealing. Unfortunately that can now lead to complaints going the other way.

Guess that they can't please everybody..

That's a pretty rough way of putting it, but it's also very true.

The new mechanic is for the braindead. A lot joined recently.

FD are worse for actually implementing it.
