Things to do in Alpha 1.1 (when getting bored)

Looking for personal challenges when you've beaten every cenario on regular base?

I'm not searching for the typical "beat the Cobra faster than me" challenges where you have to beat scores of other players...just rules to make things more difficult in a way i might learn something ;)


I for myself like doing the "recon wing" scenario with the following rules:
- prepare as much as you like, you got time.
- go to silent mode to kill your shields
- as soon as you attack and after the scout ships get hostile, turn silent mode off
- survive with as much hull as possible

Any other ideas?
And yes, "incursion completely in stealth mode with only using secondary weapon" might be interesting...but not exactly what i'm looking for ;)
 
Trying to figure out how missiles work. In some scenearios they will only work as rockets, but in the final few they will lock on as supposed.

could be the early alpha build.
 
TY mate, that explain the troubles i experienced, i'ts just that in my termonology, a missile is guided. Although i understand that a missile in english could be anything guided or not.
Basic understanding in airforces is
Missile = guided.
Rocket = unguided.

But hey, as long as i know there are both types i'm happy.
 
Start from the first mission, and use FA Off mode 100% of the time. See how far you get.

Me, I got up to (but not past) wave 9 of Incursions. Quite a lot of it was frustrating, if not downright tedious... But the challenge was great!

As I now have an lovely Cobra and oodles of cash I tend to fly around the asteroid field blowing the cargo hatches of Anacondas and letting other players scoop it up. So if you see a friendly pirate blasting away at an Anaconda feel free to help out a bit (maybe target the shields) and help yourself to the generous booty that comes spilling out...
 
As I now have an lovely Cobra and oodles of cash I tend to fly around the asteroid field blowing the cargo hatches of Anacondas and letting other players scoop it up. Keep in mind the invisible wall when flying away from the station for some time. Otherwise, your lovely new Cobra will blow up into pieces.
 
i still can't get through incursion mission in 1.1...always get blown up in the last wave.

The last wave is Anaconda. In alpha 1.1 it has shorter firing range then Sidewinder about 3000m vs Sidewinder's 3500m. It will take some time of course but it is possible to destroy Anaconda from that range.

i only get to last wave with the "fly backward" *ahem* tactics :D
Now i try to engage directly and i'm stuck at wave 7 (i think) that has 4 enemies..

Im using genius metalstrike 3d joystick with pretty big deadzone (its pretty loose) atm..fine aiming/ maneuvering is such a pain, but i would blame the most part on my skills..which is exactly why i am going with M.E.A.T.
 
I'm not good enough to get bored yet - I'm still at the cold-sweat-I'm-going-to-die stage! :eek: I would love to be doing some of the things that alpha backers are doing, though.

I didn't mean "bored" in a way like: "i can complete incursion blindfolded and with one hand on my back" ;)

Sometimes it's just no fun in doin' this scenario tenth time in a row.
Then i'm looking for some quick scenarios with some extra challenge so i've got something "new" in between.

The "FA off" variant is definetely something i should try. Someday i'll have to learn it, it might be of use :)

I've got an awful confession to make guys. I downloaded the combat scenarios as soon as they became available to me and everyone else waiting patiently for the beta premium to be released. Unfortunately due to one thing and another, mostly ill health, I have only been able to play about 3 minutes of the game :eek: I am hoping to get stuck into it properly over the weekend though.

I havent tried the Fly Backward approach, but always attack head on. I also then get rapidly killed.

You need to manage you power distribution correctly to be able to withstand enemy fire during head on attack. Attack better ships first, i.e. destroy Sidewinders first then switch to Federal Fighters.
