Thinking about the Rare goods.

So I've been thinking and I think the rare commodities are a master stroke. Everyone keeps complaining they never get to see other players. But by putting in the rares you now have a selection of locations where you're going to have high value target.

I did Eranin <=> Lave last night and saw a few other CMDRs. Didn't get interdicted by any but it could have happened. But I was more real people last night than in days bimbling around by myself.

With the rare goods and their trade runs plus the upcoming plot post launch there will be reasons for players to congregate. But if you want to do your own thing there's still going to be whole systems you can have to yourself. And you can always play solo.

Personally I'm looking forward to a CMDR pirate attack. I want to see how I do against them. Of course I'm in a Cobra not a Type 9 so I'm not an easy target.

it was a busy night in Lave

And that's a good plan too, I spent loads of time near where I started, mining and not seeing anyone.

Recently I've branched out, partly to get me some of that rare goods action.

I think everyone is doing the rare run, I know a friend was doing it last night, netted 8 mil plus just between those two systems for a couple of hours.

Hope this does not destroy the normal economy when more players do this for easy cash.

Yes I was doing the "rare run" yesterday for a few hrs, from Eranin to Lave, you can do a return round trip as both stations sells rare items, and are 122ly apart, so decent price too. netted quite a few mill in a few hrs.

My plan is a five system round robin taking in a load of systems (preferably at least one from each faction so I can pick up my bounties too), that'll be a bit more interesting than just Lave <-> Eranin.

Also it's going to be interesting to see if the prices drop at locations where rare goods are sold a lot. If the sell price of Lavian Brandy tanks at Eranin this would show the universe is running correctly.

And makes it a self correcting issue.

I got pirated in my Hauler last night in Eranin, would have been toast if he kept shooting but didn't - up until now I've been out in the boondocks and not seen a soul. It's been good to see people even if they shoot at me :)

Exactly! I like that there are also areas where you can just go and pootle about making a bit of cash before diving into the fray.

And of course there's Solo mode.
