I am currently playing with a Cobra which I really enjoy, I like trading with it and bounty hunting with it from time to time. I've saved enough money to buy a Type 6 for my trading, But I still want a ship for bounty hunter (As far as I know the Type 6 doesn't really act good at combat at all). Should I keep my Cobra that is worth 1,163,058 Credits or sell it in 1,163,058 Credit and buy a Viper and kit it out? I really like the Cobra as it is at the moment, but I'm not sure if it is as effective in combat as the Viper is.

Why would you go to a Viper from a Cobra? Wrong direction!
Cobra or Vipers are good. The cobra has more power and can make use of more powerful guns, the viper is a bit more maneuverable. My personal choise is the cobra as you can scoop cargo from wanted traders and sell at a black market. Just don't forget to make use of silent running while docking if it's a legit station or they will hand you a hefty fine! Especially if you carry slaves and such.
There are good threads comparing the pros and cons of the Viper and Cobra. I think it really depends on where you are. At around 1Mcr I personally think you get a better combat ship with up to 8 tons of cargo with the Viper. any more money and the superior equipment of the Cobra really starts to tell.
One other thing to bear in mind is cost, thr Type 6 is not ideal for missions, unless you happen to be going that way. If you still need to befriend factions I would.keep the Cobra for its mult role capability and superior range.

I would go with a Viper or maybe even an Eagle for bounty hunting as they are cheap and cost next to nothing to insure and kit out as an effective fighter.
It is easy to mess up, shoot the wrong target, get blown up entering a station cause you forgot you accidentally shot a cop and got your self wanted, get rammed by a larger NPC ship randomly, you know all those random things that seem to happen to bounty hunters.
I use a Type 6 for trading and I don't even bother putting weapons on it as it is a really bad idea to fight anything in it, and I have a Viper for just messing around in when I want a break from trading. Cobra is great but it is expensive to properly kit out and the insurance cost is alot higher for what it is you will be doing in it.

With the assets you have available you could probably fit a viper out better than a cobra for combat. Plus you get to try out a different ship.

I've had much better luck and have survived far longer in my Cobra than I ever did with a Viper. And since the Viper is smaller, it's limited when it comes to power, so it's always a juggling game trying to outfit it.
The Cobra has much better options and leeway when outfitting due to it's upgraded power grid. It also has a large-enough cargo space to haul rares and make better money when needed.
Cobra all the way unless you want just a dedicated fighter ship.

OP has stated he is buying a Type 6 for trading so it is a dedicated bounty hunting ship he is after, I completely agree that the cobra is a much better ship than the Viper but it is also double the cost and the upgrades are way more expensive.
In the right hands there is nothing currently in the game that a properly upgraded Viper can't mop the floor with and it is cheap.
As i bounty hunt i also am an opportunist. I check a few USS'es on the way to a station when wanting to cash in my bounties, and either i find some more wanteds or i find lost cargo floating around. This is extra cash in the bank. And for that reason the Cobra is awesome as you can scoop up way more loot. 
Sorry OP I just noticed you asked if the Cobra is as good at combat as a Viper, the correct answer to that question is the Cobra arguably better due to the larger systems that can be equipped making power management a menial task, however many Viper pilots will tell you that the hard point placement on the Cobra is just plain bad as they are far to wide apart and you will often miss the target at medium range unless you fit gimbled weapons.
Really you need to try both and see which one you prefer, my preference has been made clear already from my other posts but that is just because I am a cheap skate.

I've been bounty hunting in the Freagle. Reasonably upgraded now, worth about 550kCr.
So far earnt 1MCr using it.
Taken down everything except an Anaconda and so far failed to die (closest I've been was when set upon by a pair of sidewinders!) alright so it is a bit like a moth in a blowtorch if the big ships get your shields down but it make up for that with a negligible rebuy cost (~23k) and the handling to keep away from the pointy end of most.
So tbh I would keep the Cobra and just hunt using something cheap.

A tip if you didn't already know it, you can dissable the Cargo hatch, Fuel Scoop, FSD interdictor and FSD drive while your hardpoints are deployed via module power management. You can then mount more power hungry weapons.
Pimp up a sidey and enjoy.....
Outfitting and rebuy cost are also important - your looking at arround 7.5 Mil for a A Class Cobra, and 3.5 Mil for a A Class Viper.
This is also a valid option and really fun to do, stick a couple of large canons on it and learn to use them and you will be tearing through hulls in no time
