Thinking of getting the Elite Premium Beta, got a few questions :)

2) Do i get all upcoming expansions if i buy the premium Beta because that's what it looks like from the store.

3) From the players already in the Alpha, what are your thoughts? Is it worth it? I was really really impressed from the videos i saw yesterday.

4) Is there any Sale expected around Christmas? The reason i ask is because i live in India and getting a Premium Beta is gonna cost me around 20% of my monthly salary :\

Premium Beta is supposed to start in January according to the release dates on the kickstarter page. The standard beta is supposed to start in Feb, though the Premium beta comes with the expansion pass.

I am very impressed with the Alpha. Besides the graphics being nice it is the sound which has blown me away. The sound is very immersive from the engine sounds to the sound of your windscreen cracking.

The ships fly very much like in the original Elite. Not exactly the same of course due to modern technology but very similar indeed.

The weapons are a lot of fun. My favourites would be the Rail Gun combined with the Beam Laser. Tis like a punch 'n' slice.

Plus you get a bobble head in your cockpit.

I was sooo impressed by the sounds as well. The Transformer style sound of the engines revving up as well as the bump when accelerating had me staring with my jaws open. That's one of the main reasons i am willing to splash my cash.

Still "January", but I'd read that as mid-late January. Not long to wait.

I believe it is the same as the kickstarter arrangement - all major expansions.

I'm very impressed with everything, particularly the music, but most of all the overall polish - it feels like a retail release not an alpha. I had imagined something where we would be doing a lot more hands-on bug finding etc, but as it has worked out it's almost just like early access. So is it worth an extra £100 to you for something that might be out in 4 weeks in the same shape anyway? From what you say below alpha access would be costing you close to a fortnight's salary - that's pretty steep!

I have not heard about any sales.

Apparently the first beta is 100 pounds. And you must add 35 pounds to get the important updates thereafter. But sometimes it is not displayed on the site. Perhaps a bug ? It is best to ask Frontier.

Actually the Premium beta comes with the Expansion Pass (at least it lists as such on Expansion Pass page)

so effectively:

Premium Beta (inc Expansion Pass) = £100
Standard Beta + Expansion Pass = £50 + £35 = £85

so if you were thinking of getting the expansion pass anyway, to go for premium rather than standard beta will cost you an extra £15

Make sure you choose your product level carefully as there is no upgrade path.
If you want to upgrade later you have to buy it over again.

I'm having fun trying to get to grips with it but oh yes!!! It is worth it!!!! It was a very bad case of nostalga that made me spend serious money on the KS. I always knew it would be a struggle to play the game and there are currently some things really annoying me. Still, it's stunning. The detail is... Well, the dev video does not lie. It's made me want the full game even more and I'm SO glad all updates are thrown in because if this is what it's going to be like I have a feeling I'm going to be spending most of my free time playing it.

I had to back the kickstarter, it was no question for me. I've been dreaming of Elite IV for years (like the majority here). I remember having an argument with a friend about how we should be able to walk around in our ships, so cool that it's coming.

Although January was the original target, Michael Brookes has confirmed they're now working to a quality target instead of a date target:

We'll reveal more information about phases as we progress, but we will take whatever time we feel is necessary to get the alpha to our satisfaction before moving onto alpha.

In other words, it'll be done when it's done.

Although I wouldn't rule out something in late January or early February, you're probably best to expect a long wait for the beta. I'm not aware of any sales, so maybe take some time to save up the cash?

I'm in the alpha, and although it's brilliant fun I'm not sure I could show you 20% of a salary's worth of stuff. Take a look at some of the streams and see what you think. The community can be expected to produce a lot of content as time goes by, so you might want to wait and see before jumping in.
