thinking of going back to a Eagle from a Cobra

I know bigger ships have more survivability etc but I miss the Eagle.

Wondering if anyone else feels the same way that Hunting in a bigger ship is to easy?

I love my viper. Will never sell it when the time comes it will sit at founders for RES hunting while my PVE community goal chaser travels the galaxy. The Galleon deserves a peaceful respite in the cluster where she was bought.

Nice sounds in the Cobra. Nice sounds in Type 6 with visible front thruster jets too. Even nicer sounds with that and more in the Asp. I love the ships to upgrade to hear their sounds but it is a pity to need to trade in! I'll get an Eagle again anyway for the fun of it.

I might stick with it then go exploring instead, I will go and have a look at Miacke if I can get over there and its not a 'Permit system' ;)

Love the Eagle. It has crap stats though and is only fun for brief nostalgic jaunts vs AI. You will feel the same nostalgia about the Cobra/Viper as soon as you can afford a Vulture. The Vulture is the current apex predator of small ships and has no rivals. Hopefully the Diamondback and Courier will muddy the waters a bit.

I love the Cobra it's SC speeds (tops out at over 1,000c with an A4 fsd) I think may be the fastest in the game but I haven't flown nearly every ship yet, but I imagine it might be. This makes it great for interdicting and short range exploration. It's a class 4 so it can handle killing larger ships by itself with properly flying skills while dominating the smaller ones. It's highly maneuverable for it's size and can take a pretty heavy punishment before it's ready to quit. It also has one of the smallest profiles of any ship.

If they make a serious upgrade to the npc's in 1.3 will you still be saying this? I doubt it, you'll be happy you have the Cobra and will make a beeline to the Vulture with it's class 3 hardpoint mounts.

FSD has no effect on SC speeds, but have to agree that Cobra is cool ship to fly.

I've done fighting in the Python but it is so much fun in smaller ships. I loved every bit of the Viper and I love how easy to fly my Vulture is. I even enjoy flying in the occasional Sidey/Adder shuttle when I have to move ships.

I was fortunately enough to start in the Cobra, and it remains my routine ship of choice. I've always added more ships than sold & bought. My signature shows the current roster - the T7 was added this morning, and along with the Asp requires fitout. The others are substantially complete, mostly 'grade A'.

I came to the Eagle and Viper late, due to a graphics problem (recently fixed) that made them (and some other ships) unplayable. My main issue with both (compared to the Cobra) is the primary hardpoints are under the body, whereas on the Cobra they are on top. I.e. the Cobra's class 2 points are on top, the Vipers C2 underneath, and the paired C1 points on the Eagle also underneath.

Why does this matter? I usually have gimbal pulse lasers and in the Eagle/Viper need to fly slightly "nose up" to get a target lock, and also have to keep the target ship below the centre of the windshield, whereas I've got greater visibility in the upper half of the screen, hence preferring the Cobra.

To be fair, I've only pootled around in the Eagle and Viper a couple of times. Anyone with more experience got some combat tips please?
