This game is already draining the life out of this most perishable vessel in which I inhabit, and you're telling me that you plan to add planet exploration? Dynamic events? FPS COMBAT? STATION BOARDING?

Why FD? Why are you doing this to me? You know I have no life in this Earthly sphere, so you vainly attempt to take me to the stars, knowing I can't fully resist. WHY FD? WHY MUST YOU MAKE SUCH A GLORIOUS THING? I can't stop playing, even though I suck. I tell myself I must get better, but I keep sucking. But then I make some money. But then I turbo boost inside dock due to sleep deprivation. Sure I can kill AIs, but I suck still. Don't ask why. I'm too embarrassed to tell. I forgot what the actual stars look like from the surface of this planet called Earth, and the fragile civilization that inhabits it.

As Iain Banks explained about his Culture minds, they are always tempted to go to never-neverland and explore the endless possibilities of virtual worlds in mathematics, but they must always remember where their 'ON/OFF'-button is. For you, it is in this fragile civilization where you need to obtain your worldly food. Take it easy, the virtual worlds are there to calm your mind when the real world doesn't.

I'm finding that as my in-game reputation increases, the real world is seeing the consequence. I've moved from 'Friendly', through 'Neutral' and I'm on 'Disapproving Looks'. There's a risk that I'll be on 'Tutting' by the end of the day and if I don't start focussing more time on Christmas preparations then in two days I might be at the 'Snide Comments' level.
