I feel your pain. The accidental boost has got me twice, once a destroyed ship, second time panicked as I was trying to get in before a scan was complete due to some dodgy cargo, actually got through the slot and hit the other end of the starport with no shields (silent running). Escaped with 1% hull and an expensive bill. Trying to adopt the habit of getting my landing gear down early to disable the boost.
