This game is very enjoyable. Whatever you do Frontier, don't make it too easy...

I have been able to master most facets of the game without tutorial within a couple months, I believe that is a decent amount of time.
Just because it's the year 3300 doesn't mean everything has to be automated or made easy.
There are those who make mistakes and immediately think the game is broken, calling for a fix that will keep them from making their own mistake again.
Even with the risks, I already have a few million credits in total assets.
I like the risk and I love the reward. Keep it up Frontier! :D

Agreed. It's a slippery slope when you start changing things to accommodate players instead of sticking with your design. Already seen the first hint of that with the recent tweak to make NPCs pull punches against targets players are fighting to appease whiners :( Let's hope it doesn't go further than that.

Yes.

With risk comes reward, please don't make everything "safe" and easy otherwise the sense of reward becomes less.

I know it's tempting to listen to people saying adding safety net <X> for objective <Y> would hinder nothing, but making something easier and safer reduces the sense of reward the player feels on completing whatever objective it is.

Design by committee, trying to appease everyone, tends to end in bland products.

I agree and that's my worst fear right now with the onslaught on the forums right now. I hope Mr Braben sticks to the original KS vision

After discovering allmighty shield potion, game went from challenging to cheap. Lack of challenge keeps me away from playing. Just buy class b or d size 2 shield cell bank which have 9 cells and you are okay against any npc. Even elite anaconda cant stand against you floating with zero speed, taking all damage you can in front off all his weapons.

Yeah. So much fun... just pop shield cell and no risk. Even hauler can take anaconda with help of shield potion which was done already. It just takes time and shield potions.
Not so dangerous anymore...eh..

Is that you flying backwards whilst fighting that Anaconda?

I wonder how this tactic can ever be considered 'challenging', irrespective of whether you have shield cells or not...? ;)

You couldn't spam your shield cells quick enough in pvp against me to keep your shields from dropping. NPCs couldnt hit the side of a planet.

Simply put, any game that doesn't require effort to understand how to play it is a no buy. And time is not a factor, you can learn as much in 2 hours as you can whine and grind in 8 ).

Easy doesn't equal fun. ED has it correct despite the shortcomings in some of the mechanics ( being fixed patch after patch ).

If anything I'd make the NPCs more deadly. Cannot see any difference between a Harmless and a Competent for example.

The solution to the shield cells "problem" is that valuable NPC ships should also use them. Something as big and spendy as an Anaconda should be extremely difficult to take down, and it should have shield cell batteries out the wazoo. It's not that shield cells are OP, it's that many NPC ships that ought to have them don't.
