Sigh... I have been playing since beta as well. It is depressing when folks that don't want to enjoy something feel the need to bring everyone else down. If it is that bad stop playing. Some of us are just enjoying it.

It's a shame some people feel the need to do that. However rep to anyone who has expressed dissatisfaction elsewhere and chose not to bring it here.
I've lost count of the times I've resolved to resist going for a heyuugge 4k monitor to salivate even more over how good it looks.
I feel sorry for anyone who is jaded by the sights in ED. Yes, there's repetition and similarities, same as with nature on earth - trees all pretty much look the same, right? It's how the pieces work together, sometimes even in their absence. That's the beauty of it...
I've seen dirt and water and plants and animals in various combinations already. Give me something NEW; this Earth thing is played out.

Sometimes I will intentionally come out of supercruise and put everything on low power so as not to be detectable. I will sit back and take in the views. I grab a hot chocolate from down stairs. After sitting for a while the game follows suit and a reflective music kicks in that allows you to appreciate the vistas all around. I sit back and this Captain of his hard earned craft kicks back and thinks of the whole day. I can only imagine (so far) what having the occulus rift would be like (I probably would have problems drinking my hot chocolate!).
I think those that come to the game with the same sense of imagination, awe, excitement of those of us who played the 80s original and immerse yourself are able to fully appreciate what this game has to offer.
The issue with the negative posts I've seen embedded in this post and others like it is this-every ones entitled to their own opinion but- it is posted here to dampen others enthusiasm for the game and they can't conceive that anyone has a different opinion to their own- everyone MUST have the same view as them or else they are in denial.
To me this is narrow minded- the same kind of lack of imagination and narrow mindedness that cant appreciate the game.

There is some really nice scenery out there. Good luck with the TV(and wife). Let us know how it works out.
I just wanted to add my voice to the awe that this games inspires in me , I still get a kick out of jumping to hyperspace. I mean every time, even trading is special to me. And the soundscape...really I just love it to bits. Reading these forums some times is like everyone else is playing a different game to me.

Oh my.. I set up on the 52" last night. And yes it was amazing. the wife was hot for a bit then started looking... she was even impressed with the scenery.
i use a 32" monitor normally. was wondering about the three monitor setup. nice job Asp Explorer. that looks like the ticket..
