This game makes other full release games look like a joke...

I just downloaded the early access (alpha?) version of this game, and I've been jaw a gap the entire time. In any normal game, you find yourself getting let down over and over again, while expecting to. "Can I get up there? There's probably an invisible wall,... yup, oh, and it killed me too." But here I am in Elite: Dangerous, flying near a planet with a ring. "Yup, just as I figured, just a bad, flat, fake texture for a ring, heh." *goes to fly through it* *game auto-takes me out of super cruise* "Wait? There's an actual belt here? Well, it's not like you ca- HOLY YOU CAN FLY A- YOU CAN MINE THE- OH MY GOD!" With the sheer scope of this game, it makes games like Destiny look like a joke, with its tiny little four maps on 3 planets and a moon, and here I am, NEXT to a planet, halfway through the ring, and at top speed, full power to engines, it told me it would take TWO DAYS to reach the planet right there! Absolutely astonishing! Sitting there in GTA V in this one tiny little city of a country on one world. Hah, what a joke compared to this!

Real news networks? All of these factions? People actually talking to me?! Interacting with me?! (NPCs) even real governments and parties, civil-wars, resistance groups, black markets, fines for loitering! A real living world! Even the stations have their names on them! It was like being dropped off in a real life version of Star Wars! I've spent my first 50 hours in the same small area of the same two or three systems! There's an ENTIRE GALAXY out there! I mean, I couldn't imagine getting a Sol permit, and taking the like million light year journey to reach Earth! (The game spawned me on the edge of Federal space) I was amazed after I learned about President Hudson and all of that. I thought the feds were just like, the space police, not part of some big systems wide government run by republicans and liberals, LOL. And then there's this Empire way out there?! And then the exploration, systems with two stars? Blue stars? White stars? Earth like planets? Gas giants with multiple rings?! Asteroid belts?! Tiny moons? Amazing!

My God... Although, there is just TWO recommendations I have to make this game perfect. I'm find myself feeling like a sentient ship, rather than a pilot, running from station to station doing fetch quests. Every time I reach a station after a long trip, I always can't help but want to step out of my ship and stretch my legs, but I can't, not to mention, with my latest ship purchase, there's a rather large interior that also makes me yearn for being able to walk about it. Some of these ships are rather large, it would be nice if you could explore them, or that one station, with the city on the ring! The Ackerman Market in the Everate system? There's an actual city on that thing! Like the Citadel from Mass Effect! Imagine if you could walk around it while taking a break between missions? And then, for the second recommendation, being able to change your HUD's color. Orange is alright, but blue would be much nicer on the eyes if it was an option!

Its great to see ppl love this game. Which happens to be my favorite game last year, PC beta and release, and this year Xbox.

Those ideas of yours. Would it excite you to know that and much more, will be coming soon. This isn't a game that makes promises and kinda gives you what you want but than you have to wait till the second or third game.

This game will be supported for many years. We will be able to walk in our ships, our friends ships, co opt a ship, get out and repair while in space, get out and walk a station, land on planets, drive ground vehicles, go hunting on planets. Have an asteroid base of our own. With a hanger to display our ships.

And that's just in the near future with more to come. But wow think of this. Destiny, mixed with this. That's what we will have and more much much more. Pretty exciting.

See you in the black.

I can't freaking wait I hope they have something like the lifetime expansion pass for xbox one testers as well although I know they spoke on it and said it would have to be based on Microsofts pricing but still even if it was $100 I'd buy it in a heartbeat

Theres also take of being able to board other peoples ships in space and "borrow" them.

However, you have one thing wrong - this isn't alpha, its in the same state, featurewise, as the fully released PC version. Coming soon, however, is exactly what you asked for, as well as every planet being FULLY RENDERED, AND FULL SIZE, AND YOU CAN LAND ANYWHERE ON THEM. Personally, I don't understand the complaints some send at this game. It will just get better with time. I love it, and I'm glad to hear you do too!

The people complain clearly never read the disclaimer saying that it's not finished and that they should only purchase if they are willing to be happy with the current state of the game and also probably didn't see the words PREVIEW in huge bold letters EVERYWHERE when they paid for it lol either that or their vocabulary doesn't include that word. I mean hell I back this game 100% and I've had my save corrupted TWICE not once TWICE I've had to restart due to errors but you don't see me whining because I knew what I was walking into and it's AMAZING

Thanks for your perspective Commander!

There are a few here on the forums who are not happy with the game's current state and have very little patience with the hard work being done daily by the developers to smoothen out glitches and enrichen the game universe further. And knowing about some of what is to come I can understand the lack of patience. But I suspect a lot more are just enjoying it and just keeping shut about it. I am glad you posted your thoughts and thus lightened the forums a bit ;)

Fly safe, Pilot.

I could understand people being over excited for what's to come and therefor a little impatient waiting to see what happens the whole wipe thing had everyone on edge but now seems to have cleared up. I know alot of people are having issues with crashing in open play but I know that FD is doing everything they can to lessen the burdens by helping with all support tickets very quickly only takes them about a day to get back any time I've filled out a ticket and sometimes only a matter of hours. All I can say is as long as they keep up the good work this game will only continue to thrive and get better with time patience is a virtue and all good things come in time

So the game on console is the same version as PC? That rarely happens. I'm used to waiting months to years to get updates for PC games on console. Like Payday 2, Terraria, Minecraft, Neverwinter, etc... And by soon, do you mean the next couple of weeks? Or "2016" soon?

I have to totally agree with you and I have had my share of crashes too.

In the first 50 hours I've had my game crash something like 10 times, haha. If this was any other game, like that new Batman game, or Payday 2, I'd have gotten a refund. (which I did for both, terrible states for games on release) But it doesn't bother me in Elite: Dangerous at all. It's the price to pay for something so, deep. I can't bring myself to play GTA V or anything now. They seem so, bland, and pointless now.

I am with the op it makes me laugh when friends say they're playing on a big map on COD, er no your not, I am playing on a big map.
a few friends I have brought over and they love it , though there is always one who has asked what am I supposed to do ? I say whatever you like he says yeah but what am I supposed to do REALLY?.
muppet.

its sheer size has completely baffled him.

PC had same issues, game locked up, game had and still has stuttering oddly not for everyone, and they have gone on record that seems its many of us running beefed rigs that are having issues and they are working on it.

So when I came to Xbox version on release, all the stuttering and sound issues made me feel at home, same with crashes. PC version hasn't crashed since early beta for me.

I agree any other game I would be disappointed. But I'm fully vested in elite. 150 for my beta pass back when and now 30 for this and another 30, bought for my pops. I've spent some change on this. And I have put far more hours into it than any other game to date.

Being wiped plain and simple blows. It happened to us in beta every update except the last which was full release. But I kept grinding through

Man the game was so different then. If only Xbox gamers saw the difference between PC beta and Xbox. All of the complaint would stop. Take it all in. This game is huge, gorgeous. There is so much to enjoy and see. Thing is, there are star, planets, belts none of us will ever see in this game. There are just to many. They said at the rate of discover it would take many life times for us to fine and scan it all. That is just insane. So think about that before you complain. No game to date has released with such a massive area to explore and there aren't boundaries. Go do it. Though at your own risk of course haha

I almost overheated my fsd reading this, one of the most beautiful games ever created, from the first ringed planet, to the dark side of a populated planet, even the details inside the stations, simply epic.

I love this game it never stops surprising me with the sights to see. I'm an explorer and I'll admit it can be boring jumping from system to system because a lot of systems aren't very impressive... But that feeling when you discover something amazing! And your the first one to ever see it. It's awesome!. Enjoy the game guys and I'll see you in the black

FD says there will be a major announcement about the game at Gamescom in August. My guess is planetary landings along with a planetary control metagame to go with Powerplay. Some people think that's too ambitious, but can't imagine what else would qualify as "major announcement".

They have gone on record that planet landings is the last phase, of the get out of your ship project. So it will start with walking inside your ship. Then a handful of stations. Once the stations are done. Then same will be with planets. One or a few and this number will increase. But from what I've read the planet landing add on is one of the last that will arrive. One big reason is David wants us to get out and explore the planets and hunt, and drive vehicles. To do that they need to have the other parts done.

Exploring the ship plus starport activities outside it or EVA? That's what I think it will be, at very least just exploring our ship's.
