Barrel Wear and Tear and such
imagine putting a hundred rounds through your trusty old diamondomonium some sort of unbendable unwarpable barrels of your cannon/multi-cannon. That loading mechanism oiled up with some kind of lubrication that doesn't decay or turn into paste after over use, that some how keeps on going, and going, and going. Man I could probably fall asleep on the trigger, waste a million rounds and this thing may keep going.
imagine firing a beam of spicy hot particles through that trusty old capacitor that wouldn't degrade and possibly explode eventually from over-use.
Now actually imagine your flying through space, and your weapon jams, causing ammunition detonation in a warped breech or barrel, or such situations, and now you ask yourself what do you do. Now imagine these hardpoints exploding causing damage to your craft. Now that my friend, is dangerous. This would give a right justification for the 10% off the resale value of the weapon, that because of a glitch, that should have been there before, had to be taken out.Now I for one would start voiding my bowels in my pants if one of my internal hard-points randomly detonated due to me using it too much or not maintaining the weapon.
But my point for this topic, is the lack of actual logistics cost for this game, no hangar maintenance, no station maintenance, no weapons maintenance, no FSD maintenance, no nothing other than Repair and Refuel. It would obviously add more difficulty to the game.
