This game needs to be 'Bottom Up' rather than 'Top Down'

The OP actually does have good ideas. But I don't think they should be 'in lieu' of the existing content, but in addition to it. As mentioned a few times above, the game is a sandbox. Players should have some ability to affect the game universe. And I do wish player built or requested outposts and stations could come about more often. After all, there's a REALLY HUGE galaxy out there and plenty of room to colonize.

That being said, Frontier also has a backstory in play, and players can't just discard that. The alien threat IS coming, and I think Frontier is doing an excellent job at slowly feeding us information we need to figure out for ourselves rather than just spoon feeding us storylines.

I did know about player faction creation - but it is at the discretion of Fdev and is not what I was proposing in my OP. Plus, there is no need for the snarky tone.

Who said it was at the discretion of Fdev? It is just a manual process right now. In the future the manual process is being replaced by an automated one, but we got the functionality while they coded the solution.

I feel the need for snark when someone proposes something that already exists 6 months, but they are oblivious to it already existing.

So there was a need, just not yours.

I agree with your thoughts, OP, but, it changes the game from a spaceship centric game to one of management. It becomes Civilization 6, where you bark orders on how much you need to drill, set prices, etc.

THE GAME SHOULD BE COMMUNITY DRIVEN.
Which community? The players of ED form more than one community and one player may say they belong to more than one community.
Solo, open, PvE, PvP, explorers, miners, pirates, bounty hunters, smugglers, griefers, casual, bored, Powerplay, community goalers(!?), alien / barnacle hunters. I assume someone is another community all by themselves.
So, let's say 500,000 players create one mission each and go ahead and ... then what?
.
ergo
I would strongly urge FD to think about upcoming updates to the game.
An astounding statement!
I would strongly urge you to think about your suggestions.

There are probably other ideas I had that I have forgotten!
That's a relief!:)

It seems to me that you are basically asking for Eve Online, except with ED's "live" flight model (rather than Eve's point & click movement).

That's nothing new. A *lot* of people wanted ED to be the new Eve Online. For better or worse it won't happen, that's not FDev's vision. But rest assured *someone* will make such a game. There's surely enough demand for someone to make it.

Elite Dangerous: Horizons is a new season of major expansions for the incredible, connected, player-driven Elite Dangerous galaxy.

Even FDev think it should be player-driven (or they use that to sell the game anyway). At the moment it is very much FDev-driven.
Sure they added the player factions but unless you check the forums and found that section you'd never know they existed in-game.

Pretty sure the commanders that were enjoying the BGS in their home system noticed when a bunch of guys got a free faction in their system and started plastering their name over everything and ruining the faction balance they'd set up then started acting like they owned the place.

I guess the guys deeply involved in the BGS would notice. The average player though probably has no idea.
There's not even a way to join/create factions from in-game.

This game is NOT multiplayer. How? It's like saying walking on streets is group activity, yeah lot of people are walking on streets but is this group activity? No they are just by themselves or maybe talk a bit but not group activity.
Solo - single player
Group - single player with seeing other players
Open - single player with seeing a bit more other players and maybe dying to them

There is no game mechanics that benefit or require wings of players.

This game is lost in the past. No community / no politics in game. People are trying really hard to fix sterile universe of this game by doing actual community events/organizations like fuelrats/ bucky ball something/maybe more?

I think people play this because SC is not out yet and well ED is out so might as well just play this.

You don't know what you are talking about.

Power Play DEFINITELY benefits from wings.
Undermining by yourself: 30 merits per kill.
Undermining with a full wing: 30 merits per kill, per ship. That means 120 undermining merits per kill per wing.
4x force multiplier.

Same with Resistance pockets, but at 10 merits instead of 30.

I would argue being able to bring down large ships and wings of ships in a Haz Rez zone in a wing outweighs the splitting of the bounty.

If you are really good, one guy is scanning and tagging, and the other three mop up the target.
Able to do that, and 15m per hour is not unusually, but there is only a few guys in the Templars I would try that with, it gets hairy real quick if people are sloppy.
