This game really needs this to get more people and make it feel like a online game

Why even make it a online game it dont feel like one at all ??
The game is great! I just hate how I feel like the world is empty and dead! They just need make it a real sandbox game they don't even have chat windows so I don't feel like anyone is on or around me ! No player driven economy so not much on the markets. They don't even have blue prints to make stuff with ore other then to sell the ore :S? This game really didn't live up to what I was thinking it would be. The point of online game is to feel online with other people but you never really see other players and when you do not like you can chat or do much other then maybe attack or let them fly bye! It feels like they are NPC. They just need take the online stuff out and make it single player game only ! I think you would even notice the different feeling of off line or online ! They hype this online stuff way to much for this game! I think if they keep it this way ill go back to eve-online they have real PVP and not feel like a care bear game. Hell they make this a real sand box MMO like eve-online they get way more players and money from buying in game items! I only try this game cause I know a lot eve-online players saying they looking for something better to replace eve-online but has a driven player world to bad this isn't it yet ! Ill still stick to this game for now see were it is heading. I just prey that it goes full player mmo sandbox so they make more money and get more players for more pew pew online.

If you love Eve so much - why not play it?

Elite is a refreshing difference, no silly chatboxes full of puerile nonsense, no pew-pew-lolz-headshot-bros, it's great :)

Elite isn't meant to be eve replacement, it's more of immersion of being in a spaceship. There will be few hubs with lots of players and the rest of the space will feel empty. And that is IMHO a good thing. It feels like we're pioneers of unknown parts of the Galaxy.

I'm with you on this, but dont forget EvE has been out since 2003 and its evolved in to what EvE is today, Elite has just entered the online world. They need time to mature. and its going to take a while.

They could add "StarWeb"

at the time you have a feeling like you play alone, I have tried to call up 10-20 people online when Im nearby. no respond, I like the way they have put up you can text to each other. But could they not make something like, "StarWeb" some are like you can send local text in a public chat in that system. so do you at least got someplace to talk and ask people if you want it. I really miss that part from other games

when i started eve in Augest 6th 2003 (eve went live in may 2003) by the time i was in there game there was only a max of around 1,000 to 2,000 people on at the same time at that point and that was 3 months since it started!!!! so i can imagine when it started there were only a few hundred if even that! also there were only 5,000 systems in the game far less then there is now

so ya it will take some time for elite to see alot of players in game since well it does have 400 billion stars

I don't really understand! I have been playing in open-mode ONLY, and I see A LOT of people around. you got to be in the right place and time.

Check starter systems, I am pretty sure you will find them there!

Don't forget it is not simply an arcade. it is the milky way, if most of us decide to stick around SOL, you won't see a lot at say 500LYs away for example.
and it is a real sized galaxy, VAST, so naturally, they will be spread apart.

btw only the Hollowed squares triangles are players (triangles depict which direction they are squares mean they are around the same level of plane as u)

There's a thread with a poll about better comms and social features here Would you like to see open communication in system and at stations? The far majority 70%+ wants better open communication in systems and stations.

The lack of any sort of social aspects to a multiplayer game even one that prides itself on isolation and the immersion of deep space is pretty silly. So vote and maybe Frontier will listen for once.

This is just for system and station based open communication. Not galaxy wide communication. While it'd be nice to see regional chat within a station to help coordinate across a region let's try for the smallest and most basic possible change.

EDIT: If you want just in station communications, pick No and list the exception in your post.

I think you really need to think of it primarily as a solo experience.

Group activity is possible with friends (wingman features are due soon) and if you pay attention to Galnet you'll see opportunities to involve yourself in activities that increase the chance of Cmdr contact. But in the end it is an utterly huge universe out there and given the game world is 1:1 it IS going to feel somewhat empty.

ED is not Eve and it's is never going to be like Eve, and so comparisons aren't very useful.

Not quite.

Square - hardpoints stowed
Triangle - hardpoints deployed
solid - NPC
hollow - PC
white - object (cargo/hyperspace cloud etc)
orange - neutral
green - ally/friend
red - enemy
flashing - shooting at you

The distance above or below you is shown by the length of the 'stalk' under/above the triangle/square/whatever.

na i think the triangles really depict whether are are above or below you the stalk just shows which direction they are relative to your turn in space i have noticed that the stalks disappear when u do a barrel roll but not use the up and down thrusters

but when u do turn upside down, the triangle changes to a upside down triangle

What this game need is more place to meet like old style 50's Burger drive in to exchange info and stuff each other.

its hard to connect with others

I played for 2 days straight and ran across exactly 2 people. Both ignored all chats I sent out. Not much we could have done anyways, not anyway to form up groups/wings or carry on a conversation other than link up outside the game and voice chat. Im old. I will never get comfortable voice chatting with strangers on the interwebs. I can't stand it.

I'm glad it's not just me, I've been playing open play regularly between the launch and now and not bumped into a single human player. All I get are NPC's and they are all clean. This has meant that they shoot at me and I can't shoot back without collecting a fine, not fair I think especially as I'm clean my self. I've been doing lots of missions going after black boxes and rebel transmission so I've been getting a lot of NPC's. Still feels empty at the moment. By the way, I made my way to the Sol system while in the gamma release so when the release 1 happened I would be hopefully bump into people for this very reason. No luck there it seems. Been play as a premium beta so I'm not new to this as well.

where are you located?

No ^^ is right.

A release on Steam would go a long way into increasing the player base. Even if the game would be more expensive on Steam (to cover Valve's cut.)

Even though this isn't a good thing, Steam is now a platform that independent studios *have* to be on, otherwise their games are not going to be relevant. Having your game appear on Steam's front page goes a long way into making the game known to people.

Even publishers that already have their own online distribution system choose Steam. Ubisoft, for example. Or EVE Online; they're on Steam too, even though they use their own platform (like like ED does.)
