This game..........

First of all sorry for my english.

Ok I come to the game: you do a question what's dangerous in Elite? absolutely nothing, you lose the ship? there is a rebuy, remember in Eve when I lost my ships !! a disaster!!! ships destroyed and millions paid to buy them I needed to work very hard, not here, here we have insurance!
Here you play for money, only money and more money! and once you reached the billions you do? you're bored!!
What is your intervention in the galaxy? zero!
Elite is increasingly become a wild grinding and unfortunately it all comes down to a "jump jump jump jump (n times) just to be the largest ship then?
They put passengers missions that serve? to explore the universe?
The market is much more interesting than my house!
combat? I do not see players around who are willing to fight, a healthy non-pvp arena but in the space where is it ?? (Which I suck at pvp is another matter! Ahaha)
the final question is: what is the purpose of Elite Dangerous? where you must bring the fun of Elite? to do a thousand jumps to see the center of the universe? and then? done missions just to get credits, million credits? and then?
A sandbox should give users something more than what Elite offers, do not you agree?
while I keep playing in the hope that they tell us something that is worth doing, so why run without a goal well .... it is frustrating!

Fly Safe Commander!

I'm sorry to say that but from what you wrote, Elite might not be the game for you.

If you feel that you NEED to grind somewhere, if you can't find fun without PvP, if journey to the core of the galaxy feels like a waste of time, if you don't see a purpose of a game, go play something else.
No grudges, no bad blood. Honest mistake.

Subjective opinion - is the opposite of objective, which refers to things that are more clear-cut.

That Earth has one moon is objective — it's a fact.

Whether the moon is pretty or not is subjective — not everyone will agree.

Facts are objective, but opinions are subjective.

Also EVE is stupid, throw rocks at it.

Inch deep and mile wide, inch deep and mile wide,
There’s a space game flowing deep and wide.

Somehow i had to giggle, despite the validity of some points. Can still remember all the QQ threads regardings "How insurance (or rather my unability to plan and calculate properly) broke my game" when this game was released.

Elite: Dangerous is not your lover.
Elite: Dangerous is not here to tell you everything is going to be alright.
Elite: Dangerous wants your Credits.
Elite: Dangerous wants you dead.
It's nothing personal, it's Elite: Dangerous.

Really, it simply IS. Kind of like No Man's Sky... in the end, it's all pointless, but we struggle to get to where ever "there" is, day by day.

My goal is to enjoy my time in there and escape from real life to another place for a few hours a day so I can avoid humans :p
I have every ship in the game except the Corvette and have done more hours in game than I care to mention.

Currently I spend time with player factions a lot, canyon racing, fuel rats, group exploration like in distant worlds. The game is tons more fun with other people around.

When I'm not doing that I do community goals, visit places I haven't already been that look awesome and generally try to see and do everything in game that I can.

This game is a sandbox in the true form. Everything is entirely up to you what you do and how/why. If you want a game with a story/goal thats laid out for you then it may not be the game for you. On the other hand a bit of investigation on your side and you may find a niche.

Example: Don't like combat, enjoy problem solving and mystery clues/treasure hunts - canonn initiative - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ology-and-other-mysteries-Thread-9-The-Canonn
Discover the secrets on an ongoing storyline with crashed ships, mysterious ruins and other as yet unknown stuff.

It may not be everything you do all the time you play but it may be a part of your game.

Also just as a sidenote, when you have all the ships and billions of cash etc you probably have hundreds of hours into the game. Not bad for a £60 or whatever purchase in my book :) If you truly can't think of anything you enjoy doing and can't think of anything you haven't tried yet out of all the activities in game then I recommend giving it a break for 2-3 months and coming back after updates etc with a fresh view, it may never be perfect for you specifically but the game is going places over the next years and when you come back there will be new things to try and changes to adapt to and deal with (Aliens are coming!) :D

Did you just compare ED to No Man's Lie?

I agree there is nothing in "Dangerous" about ED but then again, the same can be said for any game played on a computer. What have you gained or lost in the real world when you are done playing?

Now if you wanted to feel a sense of danger, attach a shock collar to the tender parts of your body and set up a protocol to deliver deliver mild jolts for damage or collisions that get progressively stronger as you take more damage.

And for the ultimate immersion, set it to deliver a "jolt to the jimmies" every time your ship is destroyed. Now THAT would put the Dangerous back into Elite in capital letters.

I play Elite in the same manner that Calvin (Calvin and Hobbes comic. I HIGHLY recommend it) puts himself into character to become "Spaceman Spiff". I don't have billions, I could buy an Anaconda if I sold everything I had in game but would not be able to upgrade too much. And just forget about insurance.

So I forget about keeping score (Funny how credits becomes the scorecard for some) and don't go looking to start a fight without provocation. I just throw myself into character and head out into the black, filling in my own details about my mission/destination.

But that's me.

You almost lost me at Elite. But for some reason I said, no, I need to read this, and I'm glad I did. Not because I agree with anything you say, because I don't, but because when I read this post it just seems so hilariously upbeat for a game bashing post. So have some rep.

Facts are facts until disproven, such as the constant c, the speed of light in a vacuum being a constant: https://arxiv.org/abs/1411.3987

There can also be subjective facts as well, though that is an entire philosophical debate for another thread, it another forum, it seems.

No, no... No Man's Sky is a wonderful, delightful acid-trippy romp through the universe, full of beautiful living worlds full of plants and animals, and things Dr. Seuess would have had nightmares about. The controls are delightfully simplistic, allowing you to simply relax and wander Through The Looking Glass at your own pace, and simply enjoy all the lovely sounding colors, man.
But it really isn't for everyone - nor is Elite. These are near polar opposites, and that's OK. I can drop into NMS for hours and do literally nothing and still feel like I've discovered something new. Because NMS, in many ways, like Elite, is not about the destination, it's about the journey.

Did you just compare ED to No Man's Lie?
I did, and in the most successful way ever - as nearly opposite as the two are, they do have some similarities, the biggest being that there is no ultimate goal to achieve in either. And I have to say, the thing I think that has disappointed the most people about NMS is the fact that they simply cannot fly around the universe and blow each other up.

Elite: Dangerous wants your Credits.
Elite: Dangerous wants you dead.
It's nothing personal, it's Elite: Dangerous.

Once you know how to fly (and PVP aside obviously), E D is one of the easiest pc game I played. And when it comes to credits, there is nothing to buy nor any money sinks.

What are you talking about ?

c is not a speed of light. But I repped you anyway. :D

Oh god, that's even more insulting to Elite than the OP!
If honesty is insulting, than so be it. I'll also put myself out there and say: "There is no such thing as cyber-bullying, only enabling. If you don't use "Block", it's because you want to be abused." and "Political Correctness is Social Cancer Killing Us Slowly From the Inside".

How many times does this need to be said? Elite Dangerous is NOT EVE-Online! Could it take some things from EVE? Yes, absolutely - but it's not EO and it never was supposed to be.

Thank goodness!

Yes, Elite, surprisingly, isn't other games. If it was, it would be called different name, done by different people and discussed elsewhere.
The very fact that we are talking here is a proof that Elite isn't some other game!

*gasps in surprised realization*
