This has to be the worst station placement ever in the history of this universe's lore.

if they changed the trade demands / prices accordingly it would be a good thing

they'll probably just NERF it due to all these complaints and allow you to microjump :-(

Alpha Centauri? Just saw that as well. One station at 5M and other at 6.7M. I wonder if anyone actually visits. It must take at least an actual hour to reach a station.

I've been there once.... once. And yes it takes about an hour in SC to get there.

Dea Motrona star system - Pinzon Dock

It's a whopping 1,758,669.37 Ls away from the arrival point. Takes ~20+ minutes to reach it.

10/10, this game even simulates human stupidity.

So, in life, anything 20 minutes away is 10/10 for stupidity?
Because it takes me 20 minutes to get to work.
Yeah, you may not want to spend 20 minutes travelling to the station as a player of a game, but in universe, why would a trip be the realm of Stupidest. Idea. Ever.
After all you did say "worst station placement ever in the history of this universe's lore"

For stations to be that far removed from arrival point the game should provide a logical reason.
I hope FD will take care of that.

I also feel the player should get a very good bonus for trading with such a station.

Or it should have something special and desirable for the player.

There should be a special incentive to go there.

Brothel's, the best 45 minutes spent to get somewhere, EVER!

Logical, yes. Do you get a bonus for visiting, yes. Special and desirable, yes.

Oh, and don't forget to bring your own agri-meds...

I showed up with my Anaconda, really was just looking for a paint job...what a surprise.

Once found far away system from any other populated system, it was like 6 hops without any station in systems and no star to scope fuel, and found station 0.30 ly away from entry point. Traveled half hour till I got on it, was expecting to find at least some rare commodities on it, or at least one very under-priced commodities or so so it pay's for so long traveling, but all I found is poor garbage, nothing special, no gear hard to find, no rare commodities no special price nothing, not worthy to lose time for such far away stations.

I've done the same. But you know what's worse? Getting there and finding that you really, really, really want to add it to your trade route...

Sorry, cracking myself up here thinking about this. Can you imagine what they might put on those holographic, in-game advertising signs.... Hutton's "Massage Parlour"....lmao.

Here a reason: The space stations serve planets, not commanders. You may want it right next to the sun, but the population want it near their planet. If there planet is 0.22 light years away, then that's the way the old cookie crumbles.

Perspective is a wonderful thing :)

The one I mention and the Alpha centauri one both have rare commodities to buy. The incentive is there. It's just a bit silly sometimes.

Especially since a rare commodity station only only 160 Ls from arrival actually exists as well. Although I guess the commodity will be cheaper there and thus scale less.

Not at all.

In the history of the Elite universe, the frameshift drive is a very recent invention.

Prior to the frameshift drive, it would take days or weeks to travel from jump-in point to a ship's destination.

(In the original, it was mentioned that you went into Remlok sleep, but the actual transfer was a series of apparently instantaneous hops on pressing the in-system jump button.
In Frontier and First Encounters, the game used a set of time acceleration buttons while flying in system.)

So a Commander using the new frameshift drive and only needing an hour to get to somewhere like Hutton is going to be counting themselves very lucky that they've got such a super-fast ship.

Yes you are right of course. That is indeed a good reason... if the planet is indeed worth it in some way, but very often I wonder why they chose to orbit a certain planet that far away as it does not seem to be habitable or to contain valuable resources. In such cases I would like to see an interesting reason for such an outlandish station placement in a description somewhere.

Personally I never felt a single rare commodity to be an adequate incentive to travel 30 minutes from entry point. I can make a lot more money by skipping such a station. When I arrived in Alpha Centauri a few months ago (on a rare trade run) I immediately decided to jump away when I realized the distance and time involved.
I would travel to such a station though if it had some very rare modules or a rare ship I could buy, or if they offered a very good bonus for delivering goods.
I even would make the journey if the station was spectacularly unique, a sight to behold.
