This *is* a diverting new minigame!

So I'm trying to connect, not really expecting to be able to. Get into my ship a couple of times and then everything hangs when I try to supercruise. No big deal, I know it's patch day and it'll take a while for things to settle down.

But then I got this message from my antivirus! Clearly it's nothing to worry about and I'm laughing my socks off here, but that is a rather unexpected error message! :D:D:D

I discovered a long time ago that antivirus programs are a scam, What the program should be called is an anti stupid program.

I went though all the big antivirus programs from 2000 to 2008 when it used to be fun to play with rats and I needed them to test the rats, so I have not had an antivirus since 2008 and never got infected with a virus/spyware or malware, Oh wait I let my gf and her son use my PC for a while and they got it infected with spyware but it was easy to get rid of without the use of AV.

Basic common sense when using a computer is all you need so bin all thouse AV's you have as they just hog resources and cause a nuisance oh and NEVER pay for one.

I would agree with that as far as most AVs I've tried go, but not Bitdefender. I have a friend who is into all kinds of shady black hat stuff and he's said that he's never seen a computer with Bitdefender get a virus.

I've been using the free version for a couple of years and it catches all kinds of stuff and lets me go to the dodgiest corners of the internet with impunity. I bought the paid version because it was on sale for a tenner and I was drunk. It's much more intrusive than the free version so that's quite annoying, although I am amused by the irony of it popping up when I start a game telling me that I can set it so that it doesn't interrupt any games.

SSD's don't need defragging and I just don't pick up malware etc in the first place.

BUT on the other hand if someone with the skills wanted on your computer no AV is going to stop them, I'll leave you with an old quote attributed to various people over the years:

"The only secure computer is one that's unplugged, locked in a safe, and buried 20 feet under the ground in a secret location ... and I'm not even too sure about that one."

Perhaps it is not yet whitelisted and the file signature is different to the previous one. Some AV-software might be a bit overzealous with p2p-software in general due to file sharing and related problems.

Without wanting to know the details, have you checked which files were affected? I would be surprised if files outside the games environment (install folder, config folder, journal folder, ...) were changed.
