I read recently that it's valuable for developers to receive positive feedback, and there aren't any rules I can find against doing so.
This is just an excellent game. My personal favorite aspect is the ability to cruise around space. Sure, I can dedicate myself to grinding all the way up to Elite in a category, or dig deep into a particular role in order to maximize my efficiency at it. The fact that the game can appeal to all manner of playstyles—trading, combat, exploring, and any combination therein—speaks to its strengths. But for me, loading in my Adder after a long day of work and just starhopping around is the best stress-reliever I've had for a long time. (Unexpected black holes notwithstanding.)
So much of this game has received thoughtful attention to detail. The system that generates star systems in real time, which is updated with actual astronomy. Navigating space and learning how to plot jumps and plan routes. A graphics engine that reliably scales up or down according to the capabilities of the system it's on. Being able to land on rocky planets and moons, and hopefully soon, ones with atmosphere. Little touches like being able to name my ship and not worry if there's another ship out there with the same name, and the existence of lost colony ships and transponders that are just left out there to be discovered.
It's just an expansive, enticing space simulator that can be played as easily or as meticulously as anything. No matter how long it's been since the last time I played, coming back is always a joy.
So thank you to the whole development team for your hard work. Maybe nothing is perfect, but Elite Dangerous is still really good.
