Horizons This is balance?

So . . . I finally work up to a nice ship. Great. How many NPC pirates is FD going to send after me to blow me up? At least 6. 2 at the 2nd jump, 2 more at the 4th, by the 6th jump I have a half-dozen NPC pirates lighting me up. Didn't last long. 11+ million insurance cost. Thanks FD. Not going to keep getting blown up by ganged NPCs every couple of days. 29 million insurance in a week! Where's the KRYPTONITE paint to use against these NPCs? FD took away their big guns so sends twice as many.

Are you wanted? Are you in an Anarchy system?

This has not happened to me but maybe with a bigger ship with more hardpoints it is expected to get ganged up against?

It helps to run sometimes, going silent running and boost away.

Probably bounty hunters.

You can't travel freely as long as you have a bounty on you somewhere. They will follow you constantly. Only way to get rid of them is to either die, or wait for the bounty to expire.

Nope, no bounty, they kept yakking on about my 28 tons of tasty semiconductors. I was on a run to one of the engineers (15 hops) on my way to Ceos (29 hops). Every couple of hops a couple more joined the fun and yes, I did boost away across almost a dozen systems until there were so many the FSD couldn't charge. At that point, even a rabbit has to fight. At least one python in the bunch, etc. it was quick.

The gold paint, maybe?

ive done hundreds of upgrades and am deadly in combat. Have only died once in 2.1 and that's when I shot a cop. You are very clearly doing something wrong or do not have a good enough ship for the job. Buy a high end ship, A rate it, outfit it to the ships and your playstyles strengths and THEN use the eningeers. Will be a different story then.

Also just because you specifically are having problems doesn't mean the game is imbalanced. I'm-the-center-of-the-universe-syndrome much?

Jetsonring, all
I too am doing the CEOS run, this time in the new PYTHON, all A graded, but it has such a small jump range that it take 30 odd jumps to get anywhere to deliver goods.
This is plenty of time for the nasty NPC to spawn and track you jump after jump.

I too am having my fair share of them jumping me, the only warning is a little tring sound and the next thing you know your being interdicted.

GET MINES.
The best defence I have found is as they say is to boost away and lay down a nice pattern of mines behind you, so far thats been working for me.

Why for the life of me they have made a PYTHON that can carry a bit of cargo and then given it a pretty poor jump range defies logical thinking, Mr Spock. Over 30 jumps to travel 450 odd light ys. I am at present trying to increase the jump range via mods. The best thing of the PYTHON is the huge fuel scoop as it allows you to refuel, and FSD out of there before them monegeral NPC's spawn... well most times.

Cheers
yours aye D38.

If you are in a low powered ship (T6 for example) I just submit to interdiction then do the following; Boost, Set 4 pips to engines, drop shock mines, Boost, Boost, Low wake.

I keep getting interdicted in my Imp Eagle atm as i'm doing missions, and again Boost away if it's a Vulture or larger or just turn and fight if smaller. Then I hoover up the goodies leftover.

Been doing the Sothis, Ceos runs in an armed trade anaconda and have be pulled out of warp almost constantly. FA off the. Do a 180 turn and light the     ers up. Lasers to drop their shields then strip them of their weapons and utility mounts with a few seeker missile vollys. It's unreal how fast you can strip weapons off with them. Use multi-cannons to finish them off. I also used to do it in a python as well. Two class two seeker missiles, two class three multi-cannons and a class three beam laser. Same tactic. FA OFF then boost and a 180 turn and keep going in reverse.

Turns out maybe flying around in a golden spaceship is a factor. [blah] Removed the disco paint job and switched to vivid orange. Nary an interdict since. Still get 'em but only about 10% as many as before. I have read posts about users finding that ships painted with threatening/gaudy colors (reds/blacks/golds) get more scans/interdicts then do ships with non-threatening (pinks, yellows, greens, etc.) colors. Maybe flying around in a blaze orange Anaconda says "nothing to see here . . . "

Are ceos/sothis data run missions spawning for you guys at all? Got three on monday or tuesday then the sirius corp stopped offering them completely, only the odd (1 in like 7 menu refreshes) time will they even offer black box recovery now.

As of last night, yeah, by the dozens, with 4 factions showing. Need rank locally though according to an article so start small and build local rep. Always seem to be a bunch of data missions at Sothis as well as long-distance delivery missions so I always go there first. Login/out/in/solo/open/etc. to collect missions in all modes, then deliver them in open play mode, seems like there are fewer NPCs in open play.

On my way back to Sothis now with a couple hundred tons of rares to see if it is still running today.[up]

I did build local rep. Problem is the rest of e'm are swimming in missions; up to offering over 9 at a time. Sirius nearly always 0/0.

You won't like my news then:  I have been getting my 20 data missions no problem: 4 factions, offering up anywhere from 1 to 3 or 4 missions each but not always, sometime you have to sit a bit and you have to switch back and forth between solo and open play modes to get missions under both modes, though I usually run under "open" play mode, seems like fewer NPC pirates. If you are not immediately (probably won't happen) being offered the long-range delivery missions (my mission preference) when you arrive then run a few data missions back-and-forth between Ceos & Sothis and a delivery mission should show up within a run or two. Keep running data missions and more will show up and if you shop your missions carefully you can fit them exactly to your cargo capacity. If I have any small space left I fill it with Sothis Crystalline Gold and get shifting. I have even gotten single missions that exactly fit the capacity of my holds. One-stop 400+ ly deliveries, 10+ million for delivering 120 tons of biowaste. Poop never smelled so sweet. Made over 30 million last night in a couple of hours. When I deliver back in the bubble I pick up as much local rares as I can in the vicinity and run back to Sothis. I always run to Sothis first, load up on data missions, deliveries if available (usually not) then run to Ceos. Ceos is usually good for a delivery mission or two if you go there after Sothis. Always go to Sothis first. This way if you do luck into a hold full of deliveries (plus data missions), you can drop off your data missions at Ceos for an extra million or two on your way out of town. Remember to shop your missions, don't take the first ones that appear, read the entire list, you can often mix & match to fill your hold exactly to cap and some missions are much more profitable than others per ton.

On another subject, Anacondas are pirate-bait on Ceos-Sothis. Switched back to my Asp-X (again). Half the # of jumps for the same distance (faster & less grindey) and it doesn't draw NPC pirate attention the way a solid-gold Anaconda does. 1/3 the cargo cap of a 'Conda but twice as fast covering space. Took out the shield generator to gain 8 more tons cargo room. And getting it blown up costs me 200,000 not 20 million. Also, the (scoop-able) stars seem better aligned for an Asp-X. With the 'Conda I was hitting 4, 5, 6 purple stars in a row and having to stop & search for fuel. In an Asp-X almost every star on its route is scoop-able. An Asp-X can get into Sothis Mining, too.
