This is driving me crazy! (Targeting)

Hi, I'm sure I used to be able to target a station, settlement etc and then target a signal source (or similar) and then back again. Now I'm having to go back to the menu and find what I originally targeted. I'm sure I used to be able to do this at the push of a button.

What am I missing?

I dont know the default controls.. but I can do this by

target ahead is mouse 3 ( t i think )
target next map route is N for me (no idea what default is)

The station must be the end of plotted route for this to work

I use next target, which works for ships but not destinations or materials/cargo (solid white squares). This isn't available in the SRV.
I also use target ahead, which works for anything targetable you point the ship/srv at.
And Target highest threat, useful when being interdicted, or in CZs. Target next threat is also available.
Finally I can select my next jump if I have a route plotted on the galmap.

I don't recall ever being able to target a USS or any other destination any way other than target ahead or via the nav panel.
