This is funny! :)

Funny because this would probably only work with single-player (and this is a multiplayer-only game)?
Funny that it says "complete" while the game hasn't even been officially released yet?

This is hilarious.
(Seriously if someone could get the single-player version of Elite: Dangerous I would get it.)

Hmm, if someone have cracked and removed the always online part.. That would look seriously bad..

Assuming all players' and galaxy data is stored on the AWS cloud, offline wouldn't be possible in a simple crack.

What could be concerning is if a cracked edition merely circumvents the authentication servers, allowing anyone to connect. This could then lead to modified client code allowing hacks and gameplay modifications.

Fingers crossed FDev's servers filter out unauthorised clients :)

Isn't it a sad fact we have seen such things before in gaming history, owners of the real game getting pirated versions of the game to play it how they wanted to play the game, whether that was enabling modding or offline gameplay without server checks.

Thankfully, DBOBE is already open to modding:
Q: (Question about modding and how taking offline away killed that potential).
A: Community/modding content is an interesting point - something I'd like to embrace, but within the game itself. There is a danger of the game branching otherwise.

Ahahahah!

Oh well, enjoy the laugh without me... no, no, go on, I'll just sit here, alone, by myself, without a laugh :(

:p

I am curious if actually those people that are interested in offline version wanted it to for the modding.
You know plenty of people here weren't too fond of flight model.

Offline version was hope for em. (actually i was hoping for that too... oh well, never mind.)
