General This is going way too far!

Since this forum has always been rather unfriendly, I didn't want to come here, but things have been taken too far! I was just interdicted by some invicible Thargoid while minding my own business going from Ndoyerunga to Meene. That is more than far enough away from the Thargoid war for to be left alone by them.

It's fine when someone who wants to get involved with Thargoids goes to war with them or whatever, but who doesn't want to get involved and stays away from them has to be left alone! Any normal ship is unable to defend itself against Thargoids while the normal player --- that is to say the most of them --- does not have the knowledge, the resources and certainly not any incentinve whatsoever to drop everything they might be doing just to fight Thargoids.

This blocks yet another engineer after we can't get an Alioth permit anymore if you're not willing to get killed by Thargoids when trying to get to Meene. Do you want us to quit playing until the Thargoid war is finally over or what do you suggest? If you want us to quit I want a full refund, and maybe I'll buy the game again later when the Thargoids are gone.

So I suggest you make sure that players far away from Thargoid places are being left alone, that you finally fix the bug that prevents us from getting an Alioth permit, that you come up with things more interesting than Thargoids. There's no lack of suggestions. And at least give us improved versions of ships, or new ships, we could fight Thargoids with that don't require special equipment that makes it impossible to fight anything else.

I've said it before that I'm not going to hang myself out to dry by trying to fight in ships without effective shields that can simply be disabled by an opponent you can't even really run away from. I don't have a deathwish.

That we can now be interdicted by Thargoids everywhere at any time is going wayyy too far! Stop it!

PS: Meene is blocked by Thargoids, they come back trying to kill you after you docked for repairs and try to go anywhere. Good job blocking yet another engineer :( I was lucky to escape, so I docked and logged out. Let me know when you have fixed the Thargoid problem.

If someone comes on the forum asking for help eg "I got interdicted by a thargoid while travelling from Ndoyerunga to Meene, how can I avoid this?" I think you'll find responses helpful and friendly.
When people type out their tantrum having rage quit and demand refunds then you can possibly expect the responses to be as juvenile as the post.

I haven't checked the route but if this took you through thargoid territory then expect to be hyperdicted. Thargoid territory is marked in the map if you engage the Thargoid war filter and thargoid systems are highlighted as you engage the FSD. Just plot around and continue to enjoy your day.
Recently however, if you are carrying human cargo eg escape pods, passengers or slaves, then there is a chance that you will be interdicted by a Scythe in systems close to but not directly affected by Thargoids. Just be aware of this if carrying this cargo in these areas.
full refund
No.
You bought a live service game and that's what FDev are delivering. If you like the galaxy as it was you do have the option of going back to legacy however which is unaffected by the Thargoid war.

I feel that you are being rather unfair to many who post. Yes there are some who are derogatory, critical, sarcastic and other characteristics I cannot recall at the moment, but there is a lot of community spirit and posters willing to help others. One example is the caring/sharing thread for suits and weapons.

I have had some negative responses to stuff I have posted, but I deserved it for posting garbage.

Currently, if you mostly do passenger runs, you better do them far, far away (like 100ly away from the next maelstrom - although even that might not be enough, we simply don't know where the cut-off is yet), do other things instead, or just take a rest from the game. Whatever you do, don't take people on board, be it paying passengers or occupied escape pods or maybe even imperial slaves or something like that.

The war is here to stay, simply because it is the end-game of the Elite series. This does not mean that it is over tomorrow, but it means that war content will be all there is in the foreseeable future. If this upsets you or you feel like you are treated unfair by the devs due to all the changes they do to the game, my suggestion would be to simply stop playing. There is so much investment in the whole war narrative that I doubt they will change course just because some users don't like it. This might make you feel helpless, but you can always vote with your feet. Don't expect a refund, though, especially if you've put like 1k hours into it.

You can outrun any Thargoid with non stop boosting to about 350m/s and unless you're running large trader without shields I fail to see the problem there.
Also the community is mostly friendly from my experiance. Just some people think that any criticism towards their ideas is hostility.

Sorry OP, I think your suggestion will be not acceptable for numerous already posted reaseons. However:

For refund: open ticket with support, forum is not a right place for this stuff
For play: you can get here many advices including help with things you want to achieve. All you need is to ask for it. It is up to you if want to adapt or give up.

Description sounds like a scythe, which in turn indicates some sort of human cargo.
A Glaive would indicate actually jumping to a Thargoid controlled system.
ECM and high wake would be the general response, as per a gank attempt.

the only thargoid you can meet outside of active conflict zone is scythe, which is going after human cargo (passengers, slaves). bring ecm and you will be fine.
otherwise it might have been some sad sod using cheats, which is mostly solved by going into solo mode. :c

It wasn't invincible, in fact the Scythe is the second weakest Thargoid, and Meene is tucked basically inside the frontlines, the Galaxy Map is enough information to determine that. It's literally two jumps from Maelstrom Taranis. From where my FC is currently parked I can jump to both Meene or M.Taranis in two jumps. You were directly in the warzone, just because the systems are currently human controlled doesn't change the fact they are right next to Thargoid controlled systems, in the path of the war. "More than far enough away" is laughable.

You can get to Meene with no issue by simply not having Passengers/Occupied Escape Pods on board your ship.
Permits do seem to be broken at the moment though, the current workaround is to contact support to have them issue you the permit. Please god have a better attitude when you speak to support, they're amazing and don't deserve being ignorantly yelled at.

I don't even know what this means, something about not liking the AX meta of flying shieldless as shields are nigh useless and sometimes a hindrance when it comes to Thargoid phasing corrosive damage? And you can most definitely run away from every single Thargoid variant and encounter, you just have to know what you're doing. It's fine if you don't like AX combat, but describing it like it's some medieval torture is ridiculous when thousands of people like myself are greatly enjoying the content.

Meene is not "blocked" by any definition of the word, all you have to do is jettison your escape pods in cargo, or don't have passengers on board. That's it, and you are completely safe. I don't even understand why you would have those things going to Ram Tah, his unlock is based on exploration and Data mats.

Really? I've been there just two days ago and didn't notice anything thargoidy there or on the way. Not a single thargoid in sight. As @shockbait said, just don't transport any humans, and that has been made very clear by Galnet in-game.
