curious, what do mines actually do? in all honesty I have not used or seen one in my entire time of play....

Miners commonly use ion disruptor and reverberating cascade together to paralyze vessels while knocking out the shield generator. Some ships can also afford to fit shiftlock cannister (reboots FSD).

Ion disruptor only exists on mines and reverberating cascade on mines has the advantage of a much greater ammo pool than torpedoes. Downside is that mines take a lot of skill to use well.

PDTs are handy against mines in general and can even cause them to detonate close enough to the mine layer to hit them with their own effects. FA off is a pretty good counter to ion, as you'll keep moving rather than be frozen in place when and if you are struck.

It is what it is. If you all want to ingnore the fact that cobra build kills big sips plennty and its a real problem and common in elite - go ahead.

Denial is a powerfull tool most "pilots" use.

Mines a re a cheap tool used by cheap pilots.

they plop em all around you, like they are some kind of autistic dog, and they destroy your shield gen.

Thats all you need to know really.
 
The easiest way is to equip emissive seekers. Some of them will come thorugh, damage their weapons and the mine launcher malfunctions that can't be avoided will cause further external module damage until all weapons are dead. Forcing a bomber to retreat. Furthermore, emissive lasers are a hard counter since there are no defenses available vs emissive.

Turrets & Fighters is what makes big ships fun to pilot. Kite uses PA which should be noted. That gives me ideas for my vette. I'm bored with the MC build. Variety is the spice of life. I'm glad ED offers us a vast array of tactical options for different combat styles.
