This is idiotic! Nobody can tell me how to get picked up from a settlement after taking an Apis shuttle to it?

Someone said the function is on some wheel or other, but there's nothing to be found in the on-foot settings whatsoever...

Check your keybindings so you can bring up the aforementioned wheel. I had the same issue in the alpha; trying to jump on other peoples taxis etc. trying to cadge a lift. Once you get the wheel with the 'call apex' up, it's straightforward enough - good luck :)

ALT is item hotwheel, no?

This is my basic bind after I started Horizons. Fun fact, the control panel is (hold) q. So guess how well it works. I should rebind this.

I see, that must be the controller preset then. I used a keyboard/hotas setup and had left ALT for item wheel and Q for insight wheel by default.
Which honestly sounds saner, though I would say.. why not tab for item wheel. or just hotkeys for medkits and duracell batteries, like an fps. I mean even Duke3D had hotkeys for all the items :D

TBH it is quite intuitive to tap ALT+A for med kit kit or ALT+D for energy cell. It really doesn't take many uses to become muscle memory. But yeah hotkeys would be nice too.

People are talking about different keys because if you started at launch, no default was set for the ground controls. Some have since been patched in, but for me, it's 3 because I've mapped the equivalent controls from the space UI to 1,2,3 and 4 on ground too, and 3 is the context menu.

Bear in mind that the Apex shuttle will often not land in the station itself, but it does at least have a marker on the compass at the top (Orange, cobra shaped icon) so you can see where it's coming down.

If you've gone there to fight in a capture the flag zone, getting a lift back is different; at the end of the fight, press the key to bring up the scoreboard, as suggested. Then, press it again to be automatically picked up by a Vulture and flown back to where you started. Because of course it's obscure and completely different.
