This is my Christmas present from Frontier?!

After many hours of hard work, I finally managed to buy my Cobra Mk III. About ten minutes later, I bought a hefty cargo load of coffee in Woldridge Terminal and had only about 200 credits remaining. Then, some idiot thought it would be a stellar idea to ram me while I'm taking off. I panicked and accidentally crashed my ship. Because I had just bought my cargo, I couldn't even afford the creditor to re-buy the Cobra itself.

I understand that Frontier is encouraging you to use your brain and plan out your trade routes/pirate raids etc., but it's clearly not my fault that someone else decided not to use their brain and I end up suffering the consequences.

Well.... always... ALWAYS have money set aside for the insurance... Otherwise you're running 'dirty'. Subject to losing your ship.

Sometimes I roll it all on one throw. But I know I'm rolling it all on one throw and if I lost my ship I'd know it'd be my fault, whomever actually did the deed.

Welcome to Elite Dangerous.
Rule 1 after upgrading from the free sidewinder. NEVER EVER spend all your CR leaving nothing left for your insurance.

To the point where it is sometimes more prudent to stick to the sidewinder making CR until you have enough for a ship and its insurance immediately (which is 10% of the ship's value).

Good luck and chin up.

Hey mate, some kind advice, ask a mod to shut this one down before it takes on a love of its own. I understand you're pain and frustration right now, but unfortunately you're ultimately to blame for this.

You're right, FDEV want you to use your brain, but not just to plan your trade out, also to leave yourself enough cash for insurance. Also, your did use the loan feature right? If so, downgrade/sell some modules for capital and work your way back up.

Losses happen, sorry mate. But really... Close the thread before you're attacked. You were calmer them most though, maybe that'll buy you some favor with the mob.

Dear Mob,

He's new, be nice.

Rule #2, if you have to fill up with no credits remaining, never leave the station manually. Always Launch->Save Exit->Start :) And I do feel your pain, but arent' there some loan sharks that can lend you the insurance money?

indeed what sargon said... I just brought my first asp last night but did not feel comfortable with taking off without enough for insurance money after getting it and modding it, so I brought a sidey and will do a heap of exploration to get the 100K or so credits buffer zone I want to have :) afterwards I will sell the sidey and go back into my asp :D

I knew i shoulda just done 1 more run in my type 6 but did want a change from cargo grinding :D

Sadly its not the other idiots fault he is an idiot and hit you, if you were not on the spacelane he could not have hit you and I bet he has no insurance either :D such is life it was only a cobra :D

No need to read further.

We've all been there and done that. You won't do it again I assure you.

Yet it was your fault that you decided to (not to use your brain and) spend all your credits on cargo, leaving nothing remaining for insurance, i.e. an extra life

Oh look another thread about someone not having the money to cover their insurance...

Delete the save. If you preordered you get that free Eagle back at least!

Its yours fault.
And maximum loan is 200k. Your cobra must cost like 3 millions (upgraded), so its your fault flying expensive ship without any credits left.

its a shame this happened to you, but it will not happen again because next time you will have the insurance. Docking areas can be a little tricky and as the voices say in the stations, accidents cost money

I set up a Hauler for a run with a load of rares I came across the other day, but forgot to put a fuel scoop on it. I was lining up on the pad where I was going to sell them all for a total of ~120K CR (bought the load for ~16K) and I ran out of fuel, completely bone dry, hovering above the pad with the landing noise going 'bing bing bing'. I had remembered to upgrade my life support though, so I got to sit there for ~10 minutes while I googled a solution to my predicament... alas, my LS ran out and I asploded. Not a Cobra loss, granted, but I hope my tale of woe is amusing and embarrassing enough to make a mere crash seem a little more jovial. On another note, I'm an EVE player from way back and kinda used to losing everything so you I do know where you're at.
