This is not a rage quit!

Well I am back from my 2 month hiatus. Not a ton of changes since I left but a few. I have continued to learn about the game and come back with some knowledge and tools that are already expanding my experience. The first being the planatery navigation tool. Man that should have been in game. I have also learned to follow around the CG's to actually interact with other CMDRS. During my time off I finished Witcher 2 and Mad Max. Had fun with both. But alas, space becons. All in all, my time off was good for me and I recomend it to anyone feeling frustrated with any aspect of Elite.

I did the 5k trek and promptly used the instaship transfer feature back to the bubble upon reaching my goal. Alioth grind was worse

The 5000 Ly thing is the most ridiculous mistake FD have made (FOR ME)

It could just as easily have been 1000Ly, and done just as much to show people the exploration mechanics, and what's out there, 5000Ly is just making it tedious for people who this gameplay doesn't appeal to.

It's the same with the silly number of ore you have to mine.... I think it's 500? make it 100! achieves the same thing, of showing people what that part of the game is like, and that it exists. It;s not AS bad with mining, because you can do it over time, but with the 5000Ly, it has to be continuous play. there's no taking a break from it for a few days/a week, and doing what you wanna do, nope, because you'd have to travel ALL the way back... to then start again.

There were many other options for this, ones which would have shown off exploration vastly more efectivetly even. Seems like they were rushed to get something in for the engineers, and didnt have time to create what they wanted to, to me.

It shouldn't be easy. Unlocking engineers upgrades your ship over stock ones. You SHOULD have to work for it. You should have to jump through hoops to get those advantages. If they were easy to unlock, everyone would have them and they lose value.

Sounds like it was more of a "rage break" than a quit. But glad to hear you are back and enjoying ED again as you seemed to be a relatively newer player just learning to avoid some of the frustrating but avoidable pitfalls in the game.

Thanks guys. ED is truly one of a kind but, I kind of just find myself longing for Ace Combat 7. If only FD included some actual fun mission design and didn't make me feel like I was being punished for trying to be entertained. Oh well. I guess one of you guys will have to save the galaxy for the time being.
There’s an Ace Combat 7 coming!?!? Squeeeeeeeee...*faints*

Yeah, I’ve been bummed out by this game more than once, but in the end something always brings me back. Great things come to those who wait, and all that.

Welcome back!

I tried. I can’t land my ship if I do.

I forgot to request permission and got my ship blown up.

I landed on the wrong pad and got my ship blown up.

I forgot I had a bounty on my ship for a bad parking job and got blown up.

I couldn’t quite find the exit and got my ship blown up.

I pushed the wrong button and got my ship blown up.

Man, I need a drink.

Yeah it does ratchet up the difficulty a bit. I also woke up frying in a star once.

I actually have like 500 hours. Alot of things don't get explained. Still learning. I guess that is pretty cool even if it can be frustrating

Is 500 hours new? I wonder what the average is.
I’m at about 1200 hours, after 1.5 years. Really it just depends on how much of a life you have. I have none :p.

The veterans around here can have 3000+ hours logged since the early beta days. I’ve heard of even higher numbers, but can’t think of them off the top of my head. I think one guy had 54 weeks logged on his status screen, but most of that was probably AFK time.

So I have spent the last 3 months unlocking engineers for the simple purpose of having something new to do and making my ships a little more liveable. Then comes time for Palin. 5000 lys of utter misery as I am loathe to explore. Hold onto my exploration data to dump on Palin after unlocking. Then time to gather the Unknown fragments. Trying to find a crash site is tedious. I find one pick up some frags and they eat thru my cargo hatch 20 yards from the landing pad. Get corrosive res cargo holds and try again. Dropped into a USS that says non human because how often do you see something new in this game. Picked up a black box or something and a Thargoid promptly squashed my little Viper. Haven't made a dime or rank increase in weeks and loose all my exp data. This isn't a rage quit. I am just highly disapointed in a few small details that amount to huge game breaking issues for us players. As for now I am going to play Witcher or something. I will probably come back just not for a while. Good luck while I am gone CMDRS.

The witcher is good in almost every aspect.
Crafting blending seamlessly in the quests and exploration ? Check
Immersive environment and towns that really have soul and characters ? Check
Secondary quests that blow anything ED has to offer in term of missions ? Check
Expansions larger than some full titles ? Check
Balanced difficulty and easy build experimentation ? Check

What can I say ? FD could learn a trick or two from it. Especially when
it comes to 1) designing quests/missions 2) Not wasting players time with faff

Seriously? After all that work you decided to go sightseeing on your way to drop off?

Out of curiosity, did the USS say "Non Human: Threat 0"?

I'm glad you're not rage-quitting, OP, but I think you're mis-directing blame a little.

That sucks, but the 5,000 distance should still be valid. Also, never hoard stuff when unlocking engineers, give them a few at a time as you acquire them.

I know. I'm over it now. Looking back from now the real lessoned learned is that we all get frustrated and taking some time off is a good thing. If you are lucky an update will drop while you are away and you will come back to something new and exiting.

It was non human threat 5. I knew better but after hours of exploring was dying for something new to see. It was definitely new!
