This is Unacceptable. Frontier you better do something about this ASAP.

Sure are a lot of people condoning cheating here....

That's the thing that got to me most while I played elite. The vocal majority of the community is pro-cheating, consisting mostly of solo-only players thinking that their opinion of PvP and their perceived frequency of cheating is more accurate than open-only PvPers who actually encounter it in-game and not in their heads. Anyway, let's actually look at the video encounter statistically:

  • 2x packhound racks, G5 high capacity. 7.5 damage per missile * 24 missiles per rack = 360 total damage output per full mag of both packhounds (explosive type damage, since the applied packhound effects seem to be drag and heat)

  • Guardian SLF with 30 shield health and 10 hull health, 50% explosive resist, and (for the benefit of the doubt) 4 pips in SYS.

    Shield HP after pips = 30*2.38 = 71.4
    Packhound applied damage after resists = 360*0.5 = 180
This is enough to kill the shield and hull with half a mag under the most ideal scenario for the victim (4 pips in SYS, both packhounds 100% explosive damage). Guardian fighters have the highest base shields of any SLF in the game, but at the end of the day it's still only 30mj. Anyone saying "bUt It'S bEcAuSe Of GuArDiAn ShIeLd ReInForCeMeNtS!!1!" needs to either post a guide to outfitting an SLF's optional internals or leave the thread for people who actually know what they're talking about.

While it's true that you did stagger your fire a little bit with spaces between volleys that possibly let it regen (not insignificant, never underestimate it), the packhounds should have killed it in half a full magazine (three volleys), which is what you hit it with at the start only to bring it to 50% shields.

Seems extremely fishy to me. Good luck trying to get either the community or frontier support to take cheating seriously though.

I don't think people defend a hacker, I just don't see compelling evidence.
The SLF dies, if cheating, why not make it completely invulnerable? Why let it take 25% damage?
And most people here agree the Krait looks fishy, but not the Mamba.
It's just not at all like that Anaconda guy who boosted faster then a FdL and three-shotted it...

edit: server hotfix incoming, hack patched?

So how is it that a bi-weave Krait didn’t lose even half a ring of shields while being shot for 3 minutes and even rammed a couple of times by an anaconda, but a Prismatic Mamba in that same video loses a whole ring of shields in a matter of maybe 30 seconds to that same anaconda?

Probably PIP management. Mamba was using PAs and the Krait was a missile boat, after all.

Also, I like how my theoretical Krait build has more shields than the Anaconda. Furthermore, he was using Inc. and Drag Packhounds (which makes them even worse against the Krait and SLF) along with a pulse laser and long range multicannons. The smalls were mines right? I think y'all are overestimating the damage potential of the Conda. Bring a phasing PA Conda next time or something.

But yeah, sorry not sorry I'm not convinced. Of course, this doesn't mean I condone cheating. Cheating is bad.

Big difference between defending a hacker and being critical of the standards used to condemn someone as one.

If it turns out this player was cheating, I'd be the first to advocate for the expungement of their account, banning them from the game, and prohibiting any payment method with their name attached to it from being used to purchase ED related content from Frontier in the future (though more realistically, I'd expect a sternly worded letter from Frontier).

I just don't think taking more packhounds than expected to knock out an SLF, or suspiciously durable shields on a Krait, are evidence enough to lynch someone. Even if it turns out that Krait was taking zero damage, hacking is not a foregone conclusion (I've seen far stranger bugs and instancing glitches and I know many of the people here have too), not without other coroborating examples.

Update: I have been silenced by the moderators. I've uninstalled and will not be playing anymore after seeing that the majority of this community are Anti PVP and completely illogical. The developers and mods clearly side only with PVE carebears and are ruining the game for the rest of us who enjoy playing dangerously in open and enjoy a good fight, not all of us are griefers but the majority who do grief do it because of the type of ** displayed on this thread. Might as well remove all forms of combat within the game since you all simply want to space truck and explore. I'm done dealing with dumb forum daddies who band together to silence any criticism towards this game and ignore real issues. **** this garbage forum and the pathetic power tripping morons who run it. I'm out.

Just so you are aware, you have not been silenced the fact that this thread has continued to stay open up until this point kind of attested to that. We don't allow naming and shaming on the forum and the name of someone you've accused of "Hacking" was removed due to that rule.

Couple of things you should also be aware of for the future.

1) Calling player groups names isn't a great way to get your point across.
2) Likewise insulting other forum members who may not share your point of view.
3) Attacking the Devs and moderators is however a sure way to be silenced. If you disagree with a mod decision then read the rules on how to contest the decision.
4) Likewise posting links to cheat websites.

And as per your last sentance is seemingly a final response from yourself I'm closing the thread from this point.

Thanks all.
