This Kickstarter for a motion simulator for VR supports ED 100%

https://www.kickstarter.com/project...-virtual-reality-motion-simulator/description

It got funded within the first 5 hours. :)

Looks very interesting.

edit:
btw, it currently doesn't have full support with Oculus Rift, but 100% in any Steam VR headset.
This is about the tracking of the head of the chair, vs your HMD.. to offset one motion from the other.
This is something that has a high priority that they intend to remedy.

Yes looks very cool but actually won't support ed untill FD enable telometry with the game. I have a 2dof simulator and after every update the guys at xsimulator.net have to hack some the code to find pointers for proper motion to work with simtools program. Fdev could fix all this quite easily

Yeah, I would have done this on tuesday but I was a little busy.

Just got the pointers now, expect a demo video sometime soon of me being killed by Thargoids :p

I used to be a GOD in Arena.... and then I started this project :p

That would look nice positioned in the middle of my attic room..... Which I haven’t converted yet :(

Flimley

Yeah. I wish I was a millionaire, I'd give Fdev 100k to add telemetry. Then I'd buy a sim seat that actually simulates the motion properly........

Can we get some big donations going for EDProfiler? I promise this is the first thing I'll do ;)

When playing in vr you don't need a lot of motion to trick your brain. I roll with a 2dof rig with max 15 degrees of movement and it's more then enough for immersion

awesome, I believe you. Still I can see from that video some things are missing, like when he boosts, nothing happens, which must be immersion breaking. No discernable "bumps" from receiving fire either. Also, what's to stop it rolling when you are not actually inputing to the ship, but say to a menu, with some of the buttons that are programmed for motion?

don't get me wrong, if I could easily afford it I'd get myself a chair even without telemetry, but I'd be much more encouraged if I knew it was there

Cheers bud but all sorted now via silentchill @xsimulator.net

Well I don't know how he's setup that rig but when I boost in mine I get movement on the "surge" force via simtools which basically tips my seat back more to simulate acceleration g forces and pitches forward to simulate braking / slowing down all adjustable in its severity of course. As are "pitch" "roll" "heave" ( vertical g) and "sway"
It all works on actual game data - not telometry as such but "pointers" that are found in the games data via very clever ppl and shared with the rest of us, that in essence are the same as telometry in the way they monitor what's happening to the ship and report back with accurate motion - impacts the lot! No so much incoming fire but that's what a bass transducer is for!
Needs to be done after every update but was quick this time - under a week and back in with full motion.

It's pricey and it's also huge. You'd need one hell of a big room with a high ceiling to fit that thing in. Also the standard version doesn't even come with a seat. To get a proper set up requires quite a few extra bits as far as I can tell, which all add to the initial high price. It looks good, but I can't imagine many home users buying one of these. I think the https://www.yawvr.com/ still looks the better bet for home use.

Seats are £60 on ebay, including delivery..... or would you rather pay more to make it worth selling them on the Kickstarter.

Can the YawVR do this?

Oh man didn't realise how far along it is. Must. Find. New source of income.
