This month's "I want an Orrery" post.

I know this has come up before, and has been done to death probably, so apologies for starting my own thread on the subject, but..

Please please please could the Exploration update in Q4 include a proper Orrery map for systems?

1: I miss them from Frontier / FFE. They are very useful when planning efficient supercruise routes to avoid gravity wells as much as possible, or to "aim off" to compensate for target movement, especially stations.

2: They give a much clearer view of the system layout and complexity, as well as a visual indication of the distance involved between objects*

3: They allow you to plan a "tour" of planetary objects much more efficiently, eg. if Planet 1 is in opposition to Planet 2, but in conjunction with Planet 3, it is more efficient / quicker to travel to Planet 1 then Planet 3 then Planet 2. Not having an orrery makes this decision more difficult, or at the very least not transparent enough. (Yes, I know you can see the list of system navigation targets in distance order in the nav panel, but it isn't the same. Kind of like the difference between a set of numbers and a graph!)

4: They are also really cool to play with. Which is of course, massively important ;)

thanks for reading the well-worn topic again!

* Though of course this does mean it is much more obvious how awkward a trip to Hutton Orbital is ;) :D

Being out exploring and scanning systems, this would be very useful for planning an efficient route through the system.
