So, downloaded this mornings patch and logged in.

Got a mission to visit the planet surface as the first item on the bulleting board :eek: Took the mission, got a cut scene and then back to my cabin... Not what I would call a planetary visit. Problem was my cabin was full of the furball type things. There were loads of them, everywhere.

Went out the station with the damned furballs bouncing all over the windscreen and jumped to next system. Something weird happened and I was in the 'middle' of the 2 systems and there were these weird mini flying saucers who wasted me in about 2 seconds.

Anyone had anything similar? What's going on?:S

The new patch is great! They've only opened up some of the planetary surfaces though. If you want a demo of gameplay on Earthlikes, go to Azeban in the Eranin system. It's pretty awesome, they've modelled the ecosystem with bioengineered terraforming species and all. There's a lot uninhabited space on Azeban, filled with jungle and some plantations. I bought a rifle and went out in the jungle to hunt the local wildlife, which was pretty awesome. I killed a few monkeys but it didn't seem like there was a way for me to profit from them. Eh, I guess that this isn't minecraft. The planetary capital is pretty cool too, they're still repairing from the Eranin war last year. You can take a shuttle up to Azeban City from the starport and back, so you can leave your ship in orbit if you haven't purchased atmospheric shielding.

It would have been hilarious if FD did an April Fools joke where the launcher would start the original Elite or Frontier (previously secretly installed hidden in ED's game files - should be easy to hide as their data is small) instead of ED. :D

That would have possibly been the best thing to come out of April 1st for a long time :p

I didn't make it up myself I'm slightly ashamed to say.

Another cookie to anyone who remembers/knows where it came from originally :D

e: I'm mildly surprised that it's actually google-able

e #2: ...and even more strangely the forum from 1998 on which it's mentioned has someone's sig asking people to sign a petition for games of "Elite/Frontier's complexity" on the playstation! What a great little find!
