So the title of this thread is pretty self-explanatory; which Planet Zoo animal do you prefer? I’ve picked out matchups of animals that are pretty similar in the game. They may be noticeably different such as the lemurs or hard to distinguish like the brown bears. Without further ado…

Oh I like this idea! I've actually thought about a thread for ranking all of the animals in the game to see what's actually most popular (at least, from those that respond). Maybe even just habitat animals. At any rate, we get so focused often on what we want, we sometimes forget to talk about the animals we have.

So I'm going to use your examples and bold the ones I choose and just focus on the habitat animals..

Malayan Tapir or Baird’s Tapir?

Interesting. Do you prefer the Baird’s Tapir over the Malayan Tapir simply because Frontier was super lazy with the Malayan Tapir, or do you just like the Baird’s Tapir better anyway?

I know they were super lazy with the Malayan Tapir, and it’s clearly an obvious re-skin. However, I remember the Malayan Tapir being one of my favorite animals growing up, since they were at the Bronx Zoo, and I always thought about how weird and interesting they were and how funky looking they moved. Also, the pattern on the Malayan Tapir is superior in my opinion.

And how can I forget about the tigers!? I knew I was missing a major one! Anyway, I like the Bengal Tiger better. They’re really close but the Bengal Tiger ranks higher for me because of it’s slender appearance and more orange coloration.

One last thing, the thread you were thinking of making would be really cool. I’ll definitely take part in it. Interesting idea!

I'm seeing everyone here picking the Grizzly Bear over the Himalayan Brown Bear which was honestly to be expected. But, does everyone just genuinely like this animal or is it a "duplicate" or "re-skin" issue for you?

The only reason I prefer the Grizzly Bear over the Himalayan Brown Bear is the location of the Grizzly's range and how easy it is to incorporate into a North American theme. Also, they're just more iconic (so two reasons I guess lol).

Thanks for the thoughts on the thread. Maybe when the next pack comes out I may try it out. Kind of a list your top 10 animals already in the game and see what comes up in the numbers, possibly using a ranking system in the list (#10 gets 1 point, #1 gets 10 points and so forth) Rather than a battle royal between all the species.

Not to say I haven't been aware of the Malaysian species, they're just an animal that's more attached to South American for me, hence why I prefer that one. That and, they and the Tortoise were single handedly supporting the entire South American sections of my zoos for the first few months. They worked hard, so they get some recognition from me.

If I had had to choose between the grizzly and the Eurasian brown bear, I would have picked the second one. So it's not a matter of being a reskin (actually you could consider the grizzly a reskin from the Himalayan or vice versa). It's just that it is more common and iconic.

Very interesting. When I think of a tapir, I think of the Malayan species, not the South/Central American species.

Also, your idea about doing the whole top 10 animals and having them worth certain points is an excellent idea!

Bongo or Nyala – I love both, but the bongo is probably my #1 favorite animal in the game, so ... easy choice
