Had to do all my keybindings again from scratch.
Ouch.
But: do you not have backup?![]()
I agree. Why do people need to take keybinding backups for patches (that roll out automatically in most cases) when literally 2 batch commands would correct this oft repeating issue? It's not good enough and there's really no valid excuse for it.
Before you do that again, check your options -> controls -> overview entry first. Assuming you have renamed your own configuration file (you really should!) chances are that the client falls back to default settings, as soon as the client can't find any of your equipment. This happens all the time to me do to some shaky usb ports that regularly can't find my EDTracker, but so far never as an result from an update.
In case you don't have your own config file or don't know how to make one, note that it's not just about to know the place where it sits and eventually doing a copy and rename it. You also need to edit the first line you find that is a reference to the name of this file, bare any possible auto-generated version number. After that and if you did everything right, you should see it in your controls overview menu from where you can chose it. If this file sits in the right place, an update would *never* mess with it or even delete it.
Yep, you are absolutely right but you also could ask the same question in 2 years and wouldn't get a sensible answer. I could be sarcastic and saying 'no hand holding in ED you know?'. But I'm not and can only offer a solution that is nothing but a band aid but works at least.

So far I never had an issue with keybindings. I always make backups, but never needed one. For more than 3 years now.
Ouch.

Do you backup in RL?
If my case is the typical reason than it's 100% a hardware issue on my side and thus my own responsibility. I can beg them and say pretty please and all, and maybe, one day they probably would hear my prayers. I'd rather trust my own bandaids and leave the whining and waiting to others...
Hell NO! You're a lucky one and can't have much periphery then. To me it's 5 devices, with the keyboard (which is needed to reassign keys to my gameboard) makes already 6, Xbox controller, a foot-switch pedal for pips and EDTracker included. That would cost me easily 5 to 6 hours and bring me 5 years closer to a heart attack. Not cool. Without this renamed file solution I would have long stopped playing, since the ED tracker (must be in fact an USB related board failure) is regularly messing about my settings, for some strange reasons never after an update though.
