This should not be happening

I have an account on Epic, ya, I know. I dont really mind them as much as some seem to but this here should NOT be happening. So, Ive fired up Elite and Im sitting in station drinking my coffee and considering my next move. I run on triple screens just to clarify the situation. So Im just sitting there and I notice over in the far right hand bottom corner is a popup advertisement for a free game. WTH? Why is that there? Is FD ok with that? I can tell you I am NOT ok with that. I cant imagine FD is either. I think someone at FD should contact someone over there at Epic and tell them to kill there fricking popups when any game is fired up. Essentually, they are allowing adverts in game. I dont care of its an oversight or an error in code or what. Just get it removed when I fire up my game. Shouldn t be getting popup adverts from Epic anyway.

Were you running the game in actual full screen or just windowed full screen? I suspect it may have been windowed full screen which allowed the Epic game launcher’s pop up to show up over your ED window.

Any other app you may be running in the background could also pop a pop up on top of your ED window as well if you’re running windowed fu screen. Hard to tell without a screenshot.

Turning off the notifications as others have suggested should stop pops ups from Epic games though.

Yup, as Sublime mentions you were probably running in a mode that allows popups to show over the ED window. Those epic popups show if you have steam or other games running, it's not fdev allowing or disallowing it.

I dont know how that happened. Never seen that before. Not sure what mode I am in. I thought it was full screen. I will be turning those off for sure and checking what screen mode I am in. . And to be clear, I have no clue whose at fault but if there wasnt popups, they wouldnt be in the wrong place. Popups, they are like all that wasted paper advertiser's put in with the newspaper and your mail. The day they do that the trash can fills up to over-flowing with sterile untouched paper. Just so they can reach maybe 1% of the people if that many. OH and thanks BL1P for that info. :)

I thought it was full screen.

Full screen really isn't in newer versions of Windows:

Even true full screen exclusive applications (which in Windows 10 requires a compatibility flag) don't rule out the use of an overlay.

I have no clue whose at fault

As others have pointed out, Elite: Dangerous has no such advertisements.

I know FD doesnt do that. I dont know of any that do outside of some free games and many apps on phones. They all say they do though. This was an unusual occurrence which wont happen again. Never did like popups, they have caused so much grief over the years. Im not a Ubisoft fan either but at least they put their adverts within their interface, where they should be.
