This way... or. That way???

Closing in for my 1st peek at Barnards Loop/Orion Nebula. But as I get nearer and nearer I get more & more reports of 'Plot route unavailable [Requires Unknown Permit].
This is no biggy; as I can just take the longer way round. I just wondered what these unknown permits were?

I have spent most of last night trying to navigate my way around this lot.... a HUGE chunk of space with those tags. Try to navigate to a nebula (worked for me). Best of luck Commander

The permits around Barnards Loop are new-ish. Added in May. I'm guessing it's something to do with Aliens.

But I wish they (devs) would have picked somewhere less interesting and left Barnard's Loop regions alone. I really really really wanted to get up close to the Horse's Head in Horse Head Nebula, but they locked it. Even though many explorers had been there before (some were still there and got stranded).

They also locked one of the stars of Orion, and still haven't unlocked Polaris. If they aren't going to use it soon they should just open it.

Try this: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/122593-Updated-Permit-List

The reason the Barnard's Loop stuff appear to be new is because the Permit Locking was bugged and then fixed sometime around 2.0 or 2.1 released.

I was all over that sector before the lock.

The horsehead nebula is spectacular...

you should be able to get well into the Orion Nebula with relative ease plotting a direct route from the bubble (recently went there without any failed plots)

You can also sneak through the exclusion zone using the "HD" stars and manually plotting with jumponium (100+ly jumprange required for some of the plots) and this will get you out the other side, remember to pack enough Jumponium and be confident with travelling using manual plotting though, as you can get disorientated and lose track of how to get back out if you go down a one way track - also packing enough jumponium for contingency is required.

some of the open systems are Neutrons too i think, although i've done god knows how many ly since then so i may be wrong, and with 2.2 you may be able to boost jump through the region without jumponium.

for those who jump using the HD systems and get tags (most were untagged) before i get home your welcome to them, knowledge shared and all
