This weekends gold rush.

So, just watched a video about this weekends gold rush. Again, almost 200MCr/hour, no board hoping needed, just a question of finding the right missions and wing mates.

Will be interesting to see if Wing Missions get pulled on Monday. If not, please can I have my mining missions back, because I wasn't exploiting them anyway.

Leave the goldrush missions in place, but add a 10x multiplier to ship & module prices. Should solve the problem with minimal fuss.

that would get the people that dont do goldrushes. it would be the world upside down..

In that case buy up as many ships and expensive modules as you can and store them before they apply the multiplier and then sell them afterwards - profit!

If only the game worked that way. :p
Instead, the game remembers how much you paid for an item.
You'll only get back what you paid for an item.

I think it will likely stick around if you are talking about the d2e video, unlike the other 2 methods that were used last week that clearly bent game mechanics, you actually have to play the game to make CRs this way, and winging up at the end really isn't different than winging up at the start, it just allows you to partner up according to your ability to gather commodities. Two other things worth mentioning, you can't do this in a sidewinder with a missile rack, or a cobra with 32 tons of cargo space, you need a big ship and you will be investing in cargo and risking loss if your ship is destroyed (could happen in open) and providing liquidity for other players who play different roles like pirate as an example.

They really should focus more on missions like this, the problem with the skimmer stuff or mining stuff was not only do you risk nothing, you don't provide any liquidity to other players either. People who try piracy know how much work it can be, and piracy against other players is even less profitable than against npcs, getting more missions that can lead to player interactions is what this game really needs, and mega-ship related missions could be a good avenue for this, any way to concentrate players in a big galaxy will work.

Remember the old surface scan missions? Most people wouldn't bother to even fly back to the station, just scan and self-destruct because it was faster that way. How immersive is that kind of game play and how sustainable is it for the player base?

Needs partners, organization and top end ships.

Compared to the other gold rushes this one counts as requiring skill and coordination.
And besides, it's very much dependant on having the right missions poping out, which is
not a given.

Not seeing this being nerfed... unlike the exploits we've seen... In order to make this kind of money / hour, you really need to fly a Cutter or a T9. Secondly, you will need to find 3 others to wing up with. And finally, it promotes COOP gameplay, which I think is very good, and as such, should be rewarded.

modules never were sold to their actual market ptice, the game magically knows at which price you bought them and keeps that as the base for selling them

I'm going to play Devils Advocate here, but please bear in mind I didn't really care about other peoples gold rushes up until the mining missions got pulled.

Previous methods bent game mechanics.

Skimmers could be done without re-logging, and just by playing the game.

This method requires playing the game.

Yeah, so did skimmers.

It promotes COOP gameplay

Er, no, absolutely not. In the video I watched, the missions were completely alone, and the wing only exists for the few seconds it takes for the final hand in.

You need a Cutter or T9 to do this.

If you use a Python, it will cut your rate by about half, but after two hours, you'll be able to buy a T9 anyway. I'm pretty sure you could start with a Type 6 and upgrade to a Type 9 in about 4 hours.

This one counts as requiring skill and coordination

What skill? being able to fly from A to B and look-up markets on eddb?, and the only coordination necessary occurs in Discord, not in game.

Honestly guys, if you'd said something about these gold rushes being FDev's problem and all fair game, that would have at least been honest. Those rationalizations above are exactly that - rationalizations, not at all devoid of the brown and smelly stuff.

If you want mining missions back, ask for that. The rest sounds like “remove a thing I don’t care about because I don’t care about it”; followed by excessive moralising to go with it. Don’t worry, at the rate commanders are obsessing, there will be no missions at all this time next week. They will all be turned off.

All of them.

Maybe you dont know what "playing the devils advocate" means. Also, I wasn't asking for anything to be removed, I was actually asking for the mining missions back.

Monday?!!! they will nerf this before I get dinner tonight!

FDev, you &*( so bad with missions > reward that people spend more time looking how to EFFICIENTLY manage there TIME vs REWARD and keep finding more ways to do it.

Just agree that your RNG mission engine generator is ^&*() worthless! Doesn't reward well, and most of them are simply plain BORING! ohh well another NERF thread.

Keep it this way FDev and by next week friday, we shall have ALL MISSIONS at all stations removed!

and people praying for Start Citizen to be finished already!

I just don't get how FDev's are not seeing how they are killing the "simulator"

I'm sure if you and the other carebears make enough noise, you can get this nerfed too.

Actually I fully understand exactly what you said, and I’ve not had to be snide in every remark to somehow reinforce a point, either. You’ve suggested a reset would be fine after the game is balanced. I’m suggesting balance isn’t possible. Only compromise.

And that perhaps the community isn’t ready to compromise. Argue the point, though? Like it means anything? And semantics? Oh absolutely.

I think, kofeyh, you and i are far more aligned in our views than you realise, but I have the impression you read what you think I have written, not what I actually wrote. For example, I never said "when the game is balanced", I said "when the game is seen to be balanced". So yes, ironically, semantics.
