I don't know how many people will respond to this, but I like the people on these forums, so let's give this a go.
At the age of 20 (nearly 21), I am a massive Thomas and Friends (what I first remember and Thomas the tank engine, I'm that old school) fan.....
I love the classic series (1-7) and even the new stuff from series 17 onwards, written by Andrew Brenner. And now it might all be lost with series 22 and the Big world, Big adventures movie...
Why? Becuase in trying to make the show more inclusive, they are replacing 2 of the old members, 2 that came even before Thomas himself, of the steam team, Edward and Henry, with forced diversity female characters, one of which is African. How do I know this is forced?
Well, becuase we already have a plethora of females in Thomas and Friends, one of which is already part of the steam team, Emily, and one who took joint lead title in an episode with James in the series 21, Rosie.
In fact, Rosie would have been perfect to put in the steam team. We know her from her episode, and Edward was set up to leave the shed already in one of the episodes. Henry seems to only be leaving to fit in the second female. And, she's already been shown as good friends with Thomas, the main character.
The only reason you'd want new females entirely, is to prove the point of kicking out the old (Edward and Henry), and bringing in the new.
I'm even willing to bet the episodes in series 21 were done the way they were to do what I have outlined as the alternative, before some stupid big wig threw it out the window like a toddler.
So, there's my opinion on the matter. What do you think of the changes? And would you prefer my solution to more females on the steam team? Or do you not want change at all? Discuss.
