Those "Oh no" moments

Just spent a productive hour patrolling the Zaonce nav point. Had a good chat with another CMDR, raked up about 150,000 worth of bounties. Decide to cash in, fly to nearest station. Ahah! I did scoop some gold, so I'll need to go in all quiet-like. Entering the station, got a bit out of alignment, used thrusters to line up, over compensate, ohh, now we are sideways... boost away, OH CRAP THE TOASTRACK!

Lost: 150,000 in bounties, about 8 tons of rares, and lost rep with Alliance (damn) Rebuy cost 47,000. I'm not broke, but.... DAMN.

Big tip. Turn off auto deploy weapons on fire (in the Key binding options). I turned that one very quickly off in Prem. Beta after I too accidentally fired in a station.

Very easy to do if you have the fire button tied to UI Select as I do.

I figure the wire frame is to "de-gauss" your ship before entering the station. We have static discharge probes on aircraft for the same reason.

I hate the "toaster", too.

Jumping into the Death Sun is my worst experience. And only 10 minutes life support in that oh-so-fashionable catsuit? The B-70 had emergency "clamshell" ejection seats for exactly that reason. with bare controls, and instruments on the inside. Was supposed to float in water, too...

I run borderless windowed so I can ALT-Tab out to write things in Notepad.

Was writing the name of the system while in the middle of a hyper jump, tabbed back and the jump completed. Went to turn away from the star and nothing. Joystick not responding, throttle not responding, nothing is working.

The temps are going up, warnings going off. I drop out of SC by being so close, 155% temps, sparks are starting to fly.

Found out that a stupid update on another program had popped in the background, so when I alt tabbed back to the game, it actually went to that program instead and I wasn't actually back on the game.

Escaped with 75% hull.

Or when your just trying to spice up a long trip to Proxima Centauri by turning off your life support...

Now, if this isn't worthy to be an "Oh no" moment.

Just did a trip to record a clip showing a tool I wrote for E : D. Making profit was not intended, but I investigated a USS anyway and found some Rebel Transmissions. Nice little bonus, so I grabbed them all, flew to the next station while recording my tool working and decided to end the clip on a nice smooth landing ... "Request Granted", starting the approach with full throttle to be a bit of a showoff,"Scanning detected" ... so I had to redo all the recording thing as the audio of the clip was suddenly very un-PG. 14,500Cr penalty for ~9K worth of black market cargo ...

At least your feet aren't cold anymore now. ;)

Here's a major Derp of mine from last night:

Lesson learned:

1) Playing at 2am with your friend in America means you're flying really tired.
2) Putting the volume low means you miss things (like "Silent Running)
3) The in-game messaging system is clumsy - hence the reason for accidentally activating Silent Running
4) Don't accidentally hit Boost at the wrong moment :D
5) Don't try and message your friends at the wrong time - just concentrate on getting your bird docked ;)

I had enough credits to buy the old loadout, thankfully;)

For me it's taking off quickly from an Outpost with nothing in front of me and then wondering what the heck I am crashing into. Then I realised I had used reverse thrust when I docked and had left it in reverse. Yep - fast reverse into the station behind me, lol. Thank goodness for shields.

Was going to open Steam Overlay to check metal prices when mining (to see which metals to pick up), and hitting the boost button instead. Slammed me straight into an asteroid.
Ok, insurance covered it, went back to the asteroid field, started mining, was going to open Steam Overlay, hit boost AGAIN..

I've rebound my Steam Overlay key now..

Boosting into the entrance of a station to avoid the scan while smuggling and then realising there's no way you're going to have enough room to slow down and watching the back of the station coming closer and an alarming rate. Or the other one I love, boosting towards the entrance and then noticing at the last second that there is a Type-9 on its way in or out :D
