I've been doing some thinking and I find that the rankings, especially the Elite ranking, doesn't mean hardly anything. They didn't mean much in the original and 2 sequels, and I find here they mean nothing at all.
The reason I say this is, anyone can become an Elite. They didn't mean much on the predecessors because you could always load a save. But you did have to remember to save. With Elite: Dangerous, you don't even have to remember that. The server does it automatically. If there is no chance of dying, then reaching the top rank means nothing. And that is why I use Mossfoot's Pilot Ejection Table, to add some risk. I stick it out and fight when I know or are pretty sure I can't win, there's always the chance I might get a bad roll. And if I'm 25,000 light years out, I'd have to get an exceptionally good throw of the die to survive.
Now I'm not saying everyone should use Mossfoot's table. Not everyone thinks like I do. But for those who do, I want to thank Mossfoot on behalf of them for coming up with the Pilot Ejection Table. Just in case you want to use it, you can CLICK HERE to go to the main post about it.
