Dinosaurs “Three dangerous armored dinosaurs” on small carnivores

The general idea is to have three of the current in-game dinosaurs have variety from the other in-game dinosaurs. In this idea’s case, to have three of the current over a dozen armored herbivores have a new mechanic on small carnivores, to provide more of an in-game challenge, especially for unsuspecting players. This would likely affect saves, keep that in mind, but I think this would only be minor.

First off, there are three types of armored herbivores in-game: ceratopsians, ankylosaurs, and stegosaurs.

My idea here is to have one species of the three types become dangerous against small carnivores when either side gets stressed out. Today, armored herbivores and small carnivores can not hurt or kill each other, but they can go into a fighting position before the small carnivore decides to run away.

For this idea, the three selected armored herbivores will have a mechanic that makes them instantly kill small carnivores. The only way for that to happen is to have an aggravated or stressed out (comfort meter in the red zone) dinosaur first. Maybe it could be activated if the armored herbivore is not comfortable, or maybe even if a small carnivore goes rampaging (which seems more likely because they can get angry faster than herbivores), or, if so, either case.

When either stressed dinosaur (which ever may work) goes into a fighting stance afterwards, something unique will play out. The small carnivore will attempt to run over to the side to try to flank the selected armored herbivore, but the herbivore out smarts the carnivore, and attacks, at which point the armored herbivore instantly kills the poor small carnivore.

This would provide a challenge to keep your angry small carnivores and the three selected armored herbivores away from each other, especially when a massive storm hits your park. You can still house them together, but if you do it on a map that could make those dinos angry, that’s something you’ve got to keep an eye of.

The three selected armored herbivores for idea are:

1. Styracosaurus: a spiked, single-horned ceratopsian. I see it when a raptor tries to run to one side, the styracosaurus will jump to the other side from its combat stance and swings its head at the raptor, impaling it on its horn. The styracosaurus then shakes its head momentarily before swinging its head again to release the raptor off the horn where it turns into a ragdolls. The final animation for the ceratopsian to fling the carnivore off would probably by swinging the head to the side, or maybe even upward where the dead carnivore flies into the air and over the styracosaurus.

2. Euoplocephalus: a club-tailed ankylosaur. Partially inspired by the euoplocephalus boss in The Lost World: Jurassic Park console game in the final level of the Velociraptor chapter, this ankylosaur would swing its clubed-tail at a flanking raptor which sends it flying back and down to the ground, barely alive. The euoplocephalus would then back up towards the downed raptor, tail coming in first before finishing it off. Maybe the ankylosaur would smash its tail down onto the raptor to crush it, or it could make one last powerful swing to send the carnivore flying across the air as it turns to a ragdoll.

3. Kentrosaurus: a very spikey stegosaur. This thing, when facing a flanking carnivore like a raptor, will outsmart the small dino (like the others) by swinging its thorny spiked tail to its other side from its combat stance and literally impale the raptor on one of its many thagomizers. The kentrosaurus will then slam its tail twice with the raptor still attached before finally making one good swing to fling the dead body of the small carnivore, now as a ragdoll, across the air. This is heavily inspired by what the kentrosaurus in Ark: Survival Evolved can actually do: impale a helpless victim onto their tails, bleeds the victim profusely and slams them against the ground to do extra damage.
