Ships three new ships , if you have 3 ideas for areas of the game..

o7 veteran cmdrs,
I have three new ships
Alliance Chieftan
Alliance Crusader
Alliance Challenger

Um, which ships are good in which areas of the game ? I am Lieutenant in Federation and am Baron in Imperial Navy. I tend to get interdicted A LOT.
I also need a ship for
A) Freelance Missions,
B) a ship for Liberating and Salvaging,
C) a ship for VS Megaships missions
D) a ship for Mercenary Missions.

um if you have design ideas, for these areas... show me our vet engineering ideas... much thanks!

I use 2 chieftains for combat, one for PvE and the other for AX.

I use 1, mostly unengineered, Crusader as my Odyssey BattleWagon (4 seats, 2 Scorpions, 3 AMR, 1 Frag Cannon, 2 Beams, Hull & Module Reinforcements, B-W Shield Gen). I can fight off interdictions with ease, I can do both space and grounds CZs (as well as sphere of combat, the little that I've done anyway) and I can bring friends...

What megaship do you mean?
The only one I know of is the one that might enter high intensity conflict zones if your are fighting a Federation or Imperial faction. You have to blow up some power regulators to make it leave.
All of the alliance ships have just enough space for the mission types you list, but the Krait MKII has the power, space and pace to really excel across the board. Something fast, agile but a bit more fragile is the Imperial Clipper. It's a joy to fly and my favourite ship in the game for thruster and boost sound. It's a good multipurpose ship but a bit lighter in fire power than anything else under consideration here.

Combat ships vary.
Pvp or pve?
Anti zeno? (Thargoids) they prefer alliance vessels or a krait ll
Anti pirate my corvettes destroy em en masses.
Meta against a pvper (fdl builds normally PAs or rails)
All kinds of situations where different ships excel.
The krait ll is the best medium multirole ship.
It can do anything well...all of the above. Perhaps not so well as specific builds like the Lance or alliance chieftain. But it's easily adapted. Also.. its modules are swappable with a python like for like. Handy!
I don't use slf pilots they take too much. A krait ll you have this option.
So my advice is a krait.

ty cmdr Dragsham ..
i am searching for ideas or strats for engineering one of these ships
Alliance Chieftan
Alliance Crusader
Alliance Challenger
and use that idea for a mission in one of the mission menus ... like infinity, combat , freelance, megaship, support, salvage, mercenary, or like search and rescue

Ah. Then I'd go with the chieftain.
It's so nimble for its size. The other two are slower and heavier.
I only have one chieftain. She's a drop ship. Designed specifically to flatten ground targets with all dumbfire missiles array.
I spray the ground target, land. Finish off with a scorpion srv then on foot to loot.
Sod the alarms. I want the fuzz to turn up. Shame we can't loot their corpses.
Sometimes I land without firing a shot from the ship. Sneak inside and do what needs doing. Disabling alarms etc.
I also use an imperial eagle for same mission runs. If l wanna get close but not seen. And an imp eagle looks amazing when your approaching it in a scorpion. It's amazing a planetary vehicle hangar can fit in it.

I have a Chieftain and a Challenger on my main account.
The Chieftain handles beautifully, and I use it for pirate hunting, especially vs medium/large ships.
The Challenger is slightly less nimble than the Chieftain but has more defenses and more hardpoints, and I use it as Anti Xeno vessel (to fight Interceptors)
The Crusader does not shine in any field (it's quite lack lustre, in fact), but it can carry a SLF. I think I will get one on my alt account (I try to have different ships on different accounts) to carry SRVs, SLFs and use it as a multi-role ship.

about piloting your mercenary alliance chieftan... at what speed do you engage in combat? if you not know a # m/s , how would you describe how you pilot when you worked combat rank missions? killing pirates or etc...
