ThrillVille

Hey everyone.
I just thought Id make a post for this game.
So, anyone excited for this? Truthfully, i think i am. When RCT was ported to the xbox, it was pretty lame. but this is a console exculsive game, so it will be programmed as such. however, I just hope Frontier does not rush it, because I dont think that they can just go back and patch the game up like in RCT 3.
I also hope it isnt too expensive, but hey, who wouldn't?

It's a mixed bag for me personally. The game has potential, but so far i don't have a good view on it to me. So i really can't rate it until i see a pure video of it's game play or some type of demo. ;)

This game sounds great, and hopefully it won't turn out like RCTlame for the Xbox. :p
If they just get the controls and such right, it could be great.

I'm kinda really looking forward to it .. considering i finished burnout legands and GTA on PSP, and PSP is the only thing that I play games on now. It would be REALLY cool if parks saved in the RCT3 format could be loaded (but i see that as HIGHLY unlikely).

The main thing to understand is that Thrillville is not RCT3 ported onto console. The focus of Thrillville is more the experience of a theme park, as opposed the top down management style of RCT3.

Good interview. Seems like portable fun on the PSP.

The Sims has always taken a different approach on the consoles, and is much more mission and story based over it's PC counterpart. It's unique, so you want to own them both. I have a feeling that this will be the case with Thrillville, and RCT3. While many will share features, Thrillville will work great on the console, and bring something totally unique to the theme-park game. :)

Absolutely - many of you won't have seen Thrillville on PSP at E3, but I'm proud of how well it pushes the PSP - in my opinion it is the first game to do so that I have seen (though perhaps I would say that! ;) ) It also uses wireless for multi-player mini-games.

For me developing for console is in many ways more satisfying than for PC, as we know the machine we are developing for - there is little or no variation in the consoles that are 'out there'. We can sit down and play the game in much the same way as the end user, so can get it to 'feel right'. For example Thrillville on PS2 is silky-smooth, even when riding giant coasters. Added effects like motion blur are very effective.

wow didnt realise it was coming out on the PS2 am intrigued now. Imo the RCT > Xbox wasn't actually as bad as people say, all it is is RCT and it comes with a Magnifying glass :).

Though i like the non blocky version on my computer but this seems very interesting. Though i would like to know more about the DIRECT differences between this and RCT3 before i buy.

Whats with the Paths though just bit interested to know how the pathing is going to work as the screenshots show they are not just straight :)

Thrillville has been announced for PS2, PSP and Xbox.

As for the direct differences - everything is different; Thrillville is not a 'god' game in the way RCT games are. It is quite a different experience, which involves the player directly in the park - you can even talk (or just listen) to the guests, helping or even competing with them. It is also great fun racing your real friends on (eg) go karts on courses you have just designed. This is split screen on PS2 and Xbox (up to four players), or wireless on PSP.

Guests can walk just about anywhere between the rides, ie paths naturally form much like in a real theme park, so you do not need to worry about paths in the same way.

How about the scenery, is it all pre made or can we make our own buildings like in RCT 3? Also I heard that RCTx posted an article on Thrillville which said it was available for the PC too, is this true?

Hey Dave/Mike

Is there any chance of a PSP downloadable demo? + What firmware version are you gonna make it for? (>2.5 PLS!)

They don't have a choice in that matter. Sony's SDKs are based on the different firmware, and one of their requirements is that the game 'requires' and update to the latest firmware.

I'm looking forward to this myself. Mainly cause you get a peeps view of the park instead of from the air. I always like buying on console than on PC cause on console you really don't have to deal with video card and ram problems. Hope it's worth the money and not full of bugs and lag like RCT3. If I knew RCT3 was gonna end up like it did, i would have saved a lot of money and never bought any of the expansion packs.

Same reason I prefer consoles for development!

I will agree to that console games are seemingly a little bit easier to code up. Since the system specs to that console is global to all other makes of it also. :)
